Well yeah. They grow margin by reducing costs and maintaining subscription revenue. This comes at the expense of the musicians that create value for their subscribers and undermines the value of the subscription. Enshitification 101.

It's still better than iTunes or Tidal or pirating all your music. I'm sure that will change someday but for now Spotify is the best music platform around.
Edit: you guys may not appreciate their treatment of artists but you know it's better than those other options from a user experience perspective, and that's all most people care about.
I straight up disagree with this. I recently (okay, six months now...) started using Tidal alongside Spotify, and literally think the shuffle algorithm is better than Spotify's. The recommendation system took some getting used to, but I think it's on par. Just different.
Honestly, my experience with Tidal reminds me of my experience with Vinyl: focus on albums and artist, not algorithmically generated playlists. I feel like I've become a better listener due to that, which is why I finally cancelled my Spotify subscription. I'm also sick of shitty mp3 compression...
