Did this once on a router in a datacenter that was a flight away. Have remembered to set the reboot in future command since. As I typed the fatal command I remember part of my brain screaming not to hit enter as my finger approached the keyboard. πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Is mysql in your repolist? The second tutorial adds it; just wanted to check that it worked.

The Mint team removed snap intentionally and explain their reasons here: https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3906

That makes sense, thanks for sharing. We tried fully free buses here for a while but scrapped it because it was super expensive (the way it worked was that the government paid the bus company for all the tickets - and they chose to write a new app you could use to claim these free bus tickets)

I didn't hear anything about crime or vandalism rising in this case. I wonder if the registration process was a deterrant; passengers still had to scan their tickets as they boarded, and getting one required identifying yourself.

I would think it's a good thing that there are a lot of greybeards in FOSS? If the claim is true, then it should mean that once you get into FOSS you tend to stay there.

The article seems to be referring to FOSS code contribution more than user adoption, but the same idea holds. The more I learn about my distro and its packages, the less scared I get about something going wrong that I can't fix and the less likely it is I will go back into an OS riddled with ads and spyware.

For code contribution I only ever managed to do a PR for a Kodi plugin, and even then it was only because this amazing guy from their team walked me through the whole thing step by step. It was quite intimidating figuring out how to do that stuff for the first time.

I feel that I have missed a golden opportunity

I only started six months ago and still consider my experience to be limited. These are just the names of some flavours of Linux, desktop environments, and display servers.

Can't wait for Wayland to be ready in cinnamon. Possibly mean that literally as X is a laggy mess with fractional scaling. Maybe fedora with gnome will be my first distro hop.

I appreciate the memes on Lemmy. Seems to be automated and they have low engagement, but it's kind of awesome to to scroll, lol at cat, and get some news.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. Making the rests reproducable and possible to improve on is important.

I just opened a pack of chicken breast, seasoned with salt and pepper, put water a stock cube and a chunk of ginger in the instant pot, put the chicken on the rack, and pressure cooked for 25 mins. When done I removed most of the liquid and shredded the chicken right in the pot with a blunt mixer. About as much effort as making a sandwich and now I have frozen portions of shredded chicken ready to add to soup/salad/sandwiches.

We're going through this show again, for the first time for us since it was aired. And this episode (Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space') was a real stand out. Haven't laughed this hard in a long time.
