If there's no due process it doesn't really matter.
Cop can just say "this passport looks fake, I'm throwing it in the trash, off to prison camp for you"
And that's that.
Yes, and for decades there has been no due process for the people that the police executed. So I mean while this is an escalation, it's not as much of one as people make it out to be
