Today, Nate is joined by storyteller and social thinker, Dougald Hine, to explore the importance of narratives in shaping our understanding of the world and how they can help us navigate the complexities of life, especially in the face of ecological crises. Together, they discuss the need for a reframing of conversations around environmental and climate issues, the importance of grassroots responses to systemic crises, and the concept of ‘engaged surrender’ as a way to navigate the challenges of modern life.

Drag and drag’s friends have all been listening to a new podcast lately. One of drag’s friends is an iPhone user, and bot only just got around to listening to episode 1 of the podcast today. Except… bot didn’t.

Drag sent thing a link to the podcast on Spotify, which drag and the rest of us use, but bot decided to use Apple Podcasts instead. Bot told the show to play from oldest to newest. So naturally, Apple decided to start on Season 7 Episode 1, and cover the season indicator with an ad, so bot thought bot was on season 1.

This is atrocious. What kind of app covers its own important information with ads? Bot’s been given a bunch of spoilers and had no way of knowing, except for the fact bot should have known not to trust Apple.

Drag hopes that nobody ever uses that terrible app again. Drag was looking forward to vicariously experiencing the early episodes through thing and talking about the show with ALL of drag’s friends. Now it looks like that might not happen. Drag’s furious.

Today, Nate is joined by local organizer and activist Christian Sawyer, to discuss how he’s built a pro-social community in rural Arizona. Christian emphasizes the power of local collaboration and demonstrates how the cultivation of social capital builds resilience in the face of challenges, as well as creates better lives for those who live in the community. Together, Nate and Christian explore the dynamics of community work parties, the skills learned through cooperation, and the significance of trust and friendship in building a supportive network.

Canada's CBC chief correspondent Adrienne Arsenault takes a closer look at the issue of foreign intimidation and speaks to the people being forced into the shadows in the very place they came to be safe.

This book has been on our radar for a long time, and it was a pleasure to spend some time discussing Konishi's framing of anarchism as an alternative vision of modernity, as exemplified in the exchanges between radical thinkers and activists in Japan and Russia from 1880 to 1920.
