I was thinking of this very thing the other day. Because I was thinking about Solar Punk, and the idealism that people will trade one set of talents for another. Yet in my head, I thought - once we started settling lands and owning things (basically transitioning to agrarian lifestyles) we left many of our egalitarian ways behind. I am not saying that communities that share can't exist. I am just thinking about how security tends to come with a series of costs that many will labor their entire lives over just to have a sliver.

I am too tired to give a deeper read on the summary (I read it but things are flying from my head). I have just had so many conflicting thoughts as of late that I have been trying to move through. I think because often I love the ideal of equitable acts, but I do not understand how they can reasonably be applied en masse without large changes. Which I think is the hope of automation, but the reality tends to be much bleaker because capitalism.

Reminds me of this beautiful music video by Portugal the Man. One of my favorite to this day. It's a great shot! The shake gives it a soft glow. The soft glow is good! At least, in my opinion.

My partner runs Windows, I run two separate distros not by choice but by driver support. I was messing around on her computer the other day, had to pull something up. I was startled by just how sluggish the entire experience was. Mind you, one of the distros I run is a destroyer of ram. I couldn't believe it. I felt like I was hanging out on a computer with fifty viruses and the pop-ups were coming for me.

I think they're doing what they have to do to be honest. I don't like that they fired everyone. I don't like what they've done to their publishing. I am not particularly interested in buying their things anymore. I think a part of that is because they started so whimsically. Some of my favorite games of all time have come from the bundles. Things have changed, but every fudgin' thing in this world has gone up. So clearly, even with a skeleton crew (that's what they have to be running, right?) they more than likely were going to raise the price. Because they gotta do that capitalist thing.

I don't like it. I have never liked it. I think this is more of a "is what it is" thing. For a hobby, it gives you a smattering of games for typically the price of one, on sale. It's freakin' stupid as hey-sauce it's a subscription. Let alone that you need to jumpy through an insane amount of hoops to get your games/unsubscribe. My gal grabbed the one with The Thaumaturge recently, so I saw the lot first hand.

I think they really need to re-evaluate their next few steps however, or they will basically be nullified by whatever is next. If there is a what's next, in gaming bundles. Not sure. I just tend to buy what I like, and what I like is weird.

This is in fact, that Chicago sound.

Fireflies are wonderful, and I haven't seen them in years as I have been living in places without them. I think the fondest thing about them is sitting in quiet darkness and watching them light up the trees, talking to one another. Or when you get a nice summer rain, and there's little guys hanging out in the grass just abouts everywhere. They're also quite cute and friendly, I don't think they bite. They look so whimsical as they hover in front of your eyes for just a second.

These things are hard to catch on film I think. But the tree thing, that's pretty easy. I'd say the best thing you can do is keep your fireflies alive. Also, drop little tidbits about fireflies from time to time. To randos, and your neighbors. I know it sounds funny, but planting the seed in non-antagonizing ways has a way of getting people to care (think) about things that they typically don't notice.

I hope to see them again sometime, but I am not sure when that'll be. I really like them though, they're a steadfast symbol of summer to me.

One of my exes has a great picture of it being around one in the morning, with a PBR, the sun, and a big old red fox in her face. It's a great shot, and I think about it often. I haven't seen too many foxes in my lifetime, but they always look so nice. As shown here.

Worth the fuss, thank you!

Ah, this was such a cute read! Congratulations, if you are Seldom. If you're not, I stand by what I said.

FUCK THE AGE THING, YOU GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL! FUCK YEAH!

I did not use Twitter before. So I am not using Mastadon now. Because I don't give a ploop. I liked forums. Lemmy-ish...adjacent spaces are like forums. I like that. I wasn't aware that DMs are not private, so strange. But yes, many people have been harassed. When I was on Reddit, I turned off any means of communication not public. Here, I wouldn't to be honest.

I ace the bots, but I am not sure if every instance has this option?
