I have recently started getting into film photography and I'm still learning the ropes. After buying a variety of color and black and white films to experiment with, I noticed that I somehow accidentally bought a couple of rolls of very high speed Ilford Delta ISO 3200 film. At this point, all I have is a Kodak Ektar H35N and an Olympus Pen-EES 2 which has a max ISO of 400. Is the Ilford film useless to me, or can it be used at lower speeds in certain conditions?

EDIT: This is tangential, but I was originally going to ask this question on Reddit instead of Lemmy because the conventional wisdom is that Lemmy isn't useful yet for more niche topics, but I thought "why not try Lemmy first anyway," and I'm glad I did. I found the most active film photography community on Lemmyverse.net (which hadn't yet even federated to my small instance) and it paid off. How nice!

I snapped a pic of some local graffiti and after developing the film but while it was still drying, I snapped a pic of it to do some light editing to check how the roll came out.

This was one of the shots, the quick pic had glare on it from my bathroom light and it got all funky when I started doing some edits.

I just had to share it when I saw it.

October has long been associated with ghosts โ€“ from ancient Celtic festivals to ward off restless spirits after harvest time to the modern standby of using an old sheet to make a last-minute Halloween costume. In the middle of the 19th century, however, popular portrayals of ghosts became a year-round staple, in part because photographers discovered that they could depict them.

The first ghost photographs were accidents. Early cameras required 30 seconds or more to take a photo. If someone wandered briefly into the shot, the resulting picture would contain their ghostly trace superimposed over substantial furniture, buildings or people who had held still for the full exposure.

When shrewd photographers realized that the inconvenience of long exposure time could become an asset, detailed directions for creating these illusions proliferated. Photographers could cut ghost figures from transparent material and place them onto glass negatives or inside camera bodies. Or they could make real people half-transparent through tricks of double exposure.

Argus C3, 50mm, Ektachrome, but way under exposed. I still think it came out cool. Looks like a car picture to me, but it's better for the environment and the city ๐Ÿ™‚ Scanned on an Epson V600 using xsane and gimp.
