The main plot thread through all the Balder's gate games is about the god of murder Baal and the Highlander style battle royal between his many offspring (The Baalspawn.) Baulder's gate 1 and 2 are the story of the same protagonist but Balder's three lets you choose any of the lovely companions you probably have seen already as the main character in addition to having two custom character paths Custom and DARK URGE. Dark urge is about Baal obviously so you might want to pick custom. Don't feel like your missing out anything for doing this either the plot is still the same, the Urge just gets if you don't play as him. This also gives you a reason to do a second playthrough after you've beat the first two games.
