i got into an argument on tiktok with someone who insisted that no ancient civilization could build the pyramids. i asked them if they knew what tools were and they clapped back with "what tools did they have back then?" mf never heard of simple machines

im p sure it has to do with stuff being easier to eat. we dont have to work with our jaw to tear or crush difficult foods since everything is processed or we have tools to make it easy. our jaws are underused, so they develop to be smaller than theyre supposed to be, and our teeth get crowded

i love saying that germany should have been turned into israel, but ultimately ethnostates shouldn’t exist. if the USSR won the nuclear weapon race, Stalin wouldn’t have had to stop at berlin and we’d have a multiethnic germany and Palestine and Jewish ppl would thrive in both

but in reality germany should have given reparations to Jewish people in the form of massive tracts of land and have full equality with all other ppl there, becoming full members of german society for the first time in history. Jewish ppl had a unique position in europe as an oppressed people and giving them a state outside of europe and basically telling them to gtfo kind of shows how they were seen as “not authentically european”

you can use the “synthetic” setting on clothes irons for polyester and nylon (flags won’t really be made of a different plastic bc these are the cheapest reliable cloth alternatives). ~~i think u can use higher heat on them than silk and satin. p sure the synthetic setting is half of the max heat~~

edit: just checked my clothes iron and the “nylon” setting is actually below the “silk” setting. regardless, u can use the “nylon” setting on a flag no problem as long as you use the steam often enough

damn that’s a long ferment! sounds really good tho! i just did my first batch with habaneros, serranos, garlic, onion, carrots, and a few spices. i did a 3 month ferment and it came out really good.

im thinking abt making a new batch and fermenting for a year. how different is the flavor with longer ferments?

Hello Blahaj users,

Unfortunately we have been discussing defederation. I would like for this to be sorted out, but our trans and disabled users deserve to be protected from transphobia and ableism. We know these are behaviors are perpetrated by a minority of Blahaj users, but they are tolerated here in the form of the 196 community. Of course, most Hexbear users are willing to re-federate once this bigoted community is removed. The admin Ada has been very helpful and I have faith in her to do the right thing for the safety of her community members.

In the meantime, I would like to extend an invitation to all leftists here to make an account on Hexbear. As long as you are anti-capitalist, you will be welcome there. We are hyper-inclusive and are strict against all forms of bigotry. There has been much disinformation spread about us, so if you have good faith questions, feel free to ask. We are not “pro-Russia” as many of our detractors claim, we are anti-NATO, as they perpetuate the amerikan empire. Please ask us anything in this thread!

We hope this defederation is temporary, or better yet, never comes. We do not wish to split two large queer instances just weeks after federating, but we must do what we think is right.

Trans rights forever! trans-heart

Western media have finally change course. They are now admitting that the much promoted Ukrainian counter-offensive has failed. In fact, the acknowledge that it never had a chance to win in the first place.

The Hill, the Washington Post and CNN now agree that the Ukrainian army will never achieve its aims.

western MSM has a rare encounter with reality!

That makes it difficult for the Biden administration to get Congress approval for $24 billion in additional 'aid' to Ukraine. It does not make sense to pay for a cause that is evidently lost.

b seems overly hopeful regarding the rationality of US congress, but i think hes right- why would we throw more money at them, US politicians have made it clear they do not support bringing Ukraine into NATO if they do not win this conflict. of course, US politicians are prone to lying and misleading

Nothing has come from the 'peace conference' which Saudi Arabia arranged on Ukraine's behalf

lol. lmao even. props to big dog MBS for trying

Despite the onslaught of bad news the Ukrainian army is still trying to take Russian positions in the south and east of Ukraine. But it simply does not have enough in men and material to break through the lines.

Even if they would manage to get a local breakthrough there are not enough reserves to push for the necessary follow up. Just one of the NATO trained brigades has still been held back. All others have been mauled in their various deployment zones.

nothing has changed it seems

In the northeast around Kupyansk the Russians have started their own offensive which has the Ukrainians on the run. Ukraine has ordered the evacuation of the area

But Kupyansk is a Russian city and people refuse to leave.

show this to the libs claiming Russians are committing genocide in the regions they capture. curious that these civilians are content with Russian occupation when you believe what western media claims

The Russian campaign is slowly speeding up. As the Ukrainian Strana.news reports (machine translation):

Also in Ukraine, it is recorded that from Kupyansk to Bakhmut, Russia has increased the number of attacks.

"Over the past month, the total number of attacks in the Kupyansk, Limansky and Bakhmut directions has grown significantly. In July, during the week there were 6-6.5 thousand attacks, during the last week-9 thousand attacks, " - said the representative of the National Guard Ruslan Muzychuk.

According to him, the Russian Federation does not experience "shell hunger".

Aviation is also actively used, and over the past few weeks, more than 50 air attacks have been taking place every day, and sometimes more than 80.

That is bad news for the Ukrainian side which lacks the reserves to counter the Russian onslaught. There are also less weapons coming in from the West. F-16 fighter jets will be delayed for another nine months due to training issues. Tanks and other material are in short supply.

these supply issues sure bode well for the west’s performance in WW3 sicko-hyper

Strana also report of an interview with a knowledgeable Ukrainian soldier (machine translation):

Continuing the topic of the situation at the front, an interesting interview was given by a Ukrainian sniper fighting near Bakhmut with the call sign "Grandfather". On the air of political scientist Yuri Romanenko, he was introduced as Konstantin Proshinsky (this is a pseudonym).

The fighter spoke in detail about his vision of the situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Russian army.

  1. Mobilization. In his opinion, it is conducted incorrectly. Recruits are sent to the front who have never been trained, and they are often over 50 years old and with a whole bunch of diseases.
  1. No rotation. The soldier says that "the same brigades" are fighting at the front, and people are not taken out of the front line for six months or more. Whereas by Western standards, they can be kept in a war zone for no more than three months.
  1. Behavior of mid-and high-level commanders. According to Proshinsky, many of them are trying to arrange a "mini-Stalingrad" on the positions, forcing them to go into frontal assaults on well-fortified Russian positions.
  1. The Russian Army began to fight better.
  1. Proshinsky believes that Russia has not yet used much of what it has against Ukraine.

The soldier thinks that the Russians will not move from their positions and that a stalemate peace like in Korea would be the end result.

UAF in real dire times— recruiting the elderly, poor logistics, engaging the enemy at inopportune times, and Russia has yet to waver

I believe that to be wrong. Russia's aim is to liberate at least the four regions that it has claimed for itself. For political reasons it can not stop before that is done.

Should the Ukraine continue to fight after that, Russia is likely to set new aims and take more land.

more editorializing, but it doesnt seem unreasonable. i thought Russia would stick to its original goal of Donetsk and Luhansk, but if Zaporizhzhia and Kherson are receptive to Russian governance, it would be foolish for Russia to give them up

sicko-yes yes-hahaha-yes-l

Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) conducted a probe after higher-than-usual levels of radioactive material were detected in rainwater in the dike around a storage tank

An inspection found that some water had leaked from cracks of about four centimeters on a hose being used for transferring radioactive wastewater

TEPCO analyzed water in the dike around the tank and detected up to 67,000 becquerels of tritium per liter, which exceeded 60,000 becquerels, the standard set by the Japanese government for releasing tritium into the environment

okay, so were they lying abt the water being “safe” to discharge? or did it concentrate by 12%+ in the past couple months?

TEPCO said that someone caused the cracks with a cutter blade while removing the packaging around the hose after it was delivered

great QC standards!

TEPCO added that the leak would not affect the plan to discharge the radioactive wastewater from the plant into the ocean

oh really? sure, release water that isnt safe even by the arbitrary standards your own government put in place. im sure the government will step in and stop this agony-minion

Despite strong opposition from neighboring and Pacific island countries, as well as local fishermen over the irreversible impacts on the marine environment and public health, the Japanese government and TEPCO have been pushing for release of the radioactive wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear power

yea

"amerika has 1700 derailments every year" i hear this number but according to NHTSA, there are around 1100 derailments a year (https://safetydata.fra.dot.gov/officeofsafety/publicsite/summary.aspx). okay how many of those are at speed? wait, most of those derailments are at trainyards and dont result in hazmat leaks? in 2022, 32 "serious" hazmat leaks were reported, with only 6 causing injury. in 2022, train accidents resulted in 11 deaths and 56 injuries. how many will East Palestine cause/has caused already

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_railroad_accidents here are NATOpedia's reported "most serious" railroad accidents. the most recent one comparable to the East Palestine disaster was in 2005 (also committed by Norfolk Southern). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graniteville_train_crash) railcars carrying chlorine gas, sodium hydroxide, and cresols (dont mention dioxin formation tho, thats fearmongering)

"factories dump hazardous chemicals all the time" well halogenated compounds (e.g. vinyl chloride) have been heavily regulated by OSHA for decades. and those factories are criminally operated just like the railroads. two things can be bad at once.

in a vacuum, the East Palestine disaster, is insignificant, but we dont exist in a vacuum. this will keep happening more and more often with the deregulation and declining labor conditions of the freight rail industry over the past few decades. East Palestine might "only" cause a few thousand injuries/deaths. but it also might cause tens of thousands. and as we get more East Palestines happening, the environment will transition to wasteland over the next few decades. this isnt fearmongering, this is what neoliberalism is leading to and it wont reverse unless the people force the state's hand.

the media coverage of this is for sure a limited hangout. but that should ring more alarm bells. the infrastructure of amerika is falling apart and we will die for the capitalists' hubris unless something is to be done.

EDIT: i now see the glaring problem with this thread- it assumes proletarians (white ones especially) are mostly reactionary and won't advocate for their own class interests. further, he only addresses two types of americans, the radlib and the white reactionary. this thread is almost entirely unhelpful to people on this site who are in neither category and consistently fight back against libs and reactionaries alike.

also the term "synthetic left" was coined by calep maupin, a patsoc and genuinely revolting person

a better tweet than this would have been "radlibs appropriate the struggles of marginalized people to distract from the struggle of the working class, but the material conditions of the working class are affected by structures like racism, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, etc. 1/2" "Therefore a mass communist movement must focus on improving the material conditions of the lower classes, but especially to those most oppressed under capitalism"

this was quite the struggle session

Thank you to everyone who shared their input, you guys are the best :soviet-heart: communism will win, love you all
