Nobody should hold any tournament in the US.

She used the socialism or barbarism line. Nice.

It would've been nice to delay it a bit more, get some more organizing in before the Florida concentration camps. But the Dems were determined to lose. I know they blame the voters, but it's on the Dems and their strategists and the lobbyists and donors that pay their strategists.

All the establishments Dems speaking out against Mamdani's election proves that the kind of big picture changes people are asking for are anathema to them, and they would rather lose than win with a socialist, even a milquetoast Dem Soc. They're the same people advising her to yell about having the biggest lethal military or that Iran is the #1 enemy while a genocide is going on, or to hide the guy who gave kids free school lunches and not to advertise that, while instead advertising how many Republicans are on your side. To put your best proposals on your website where no one cares. To say the economy is doing great and you'd change nothing about what Biden did while everyone is saying groceries are expensive. To match the Republican playbook of fear instead of trying to inspire people with what's possible.

Sorry for that rant, I'm just pissed. Every bad thing that happens does seem to increase awareness of communism, so at least there's that. I just hope left groups can still organize with the level of oppression they are going to get and that the poor and working-class aren't too distracted just trying to survive under these cuts.

I suspect they think they don't need to make deals or sign treaties or agreements. They probably see them as pointless and they can just strong arm countries to do what they want via force, military or economic. That seems to be the modus operandi of the Republican style of governance.

Got married last week? Omg his poor family. That is rough. I don't watch too much football, but sounds like he was both talented and a class act, too.

That's a lot of apps. Going to have to bookmark this.

100%. I hope all these hit pieces backfire. It reminds me of when people said Bernie Sanders was going to execute people in Central Park lol. And every interview they berated him for saying the word socialism or praising Castro's literacy program. It made me wonder what was so bad about socialism because the essence of his policy proposals and what he said all seemed good to me, they just insulted his vibe basically. It made me look into Cuba, Venezuela, the USSR, and socialism in general.

Now look at me, I'm a full blown commie.

Watch any show from the 80's 59 90's and tell me racism and homophobia and disgusting wealth disparity didn't exist.

Oh damn that was her? How are you going to get rid of Al Franken for doing air boobs and then support Cuomo. Like they were definitely in bad taste, no argument here, but the other man has been credibly accused by like a dozen women.

What was that Kissinger quote. Something like "Democracy is too important to leave up to the votes of the people."

I think another big part of that with hexbear is that 1) it was a relatively big instance before people arrived to lemmy so it looked like an army of people disagreeing with someone when they were wrong, giving the appearance of brigading, and 2) down votes don't exist in this instance so when someone disagrees with someone else they have to write a comment to them.

Hexbear is definitely argumentative, too, but it actually seems less so than it used to be to me. Or maybe all the defeding made it less. Or maybe being here so long has made me see other sides to hexbear. Idk.
