Got it. I am all the way in Indiana in the US. Our chubs over here are generally small fish. I love little streams, so your spot looks great.
If you don't mind me asking where were you fishing, geographically speaking. We have the fantastically named horny creek chub around me but I have not caught one that large.
I was out this weekend and the river was blown out. But a good ole pile took pity on me and jumped on the line. This time of year they often have red sore disease on them and that is what you are seeing on his flank, thankfully most of them survive without too much trouble.
Tank of a smallie, awesome fish.
That is on my list of fish to catch on a trip to NC in a month or so. Love it!

So happy that Spring fishing is in full swing. This is up on northern Indiana and ignore the cluttered canoe bottom as I was scrambling for my net to make sure I landed that smallie. Best one of the year thua far.
I have caught some of these guys before too. It seems to always be smaller fish, not sure what is up with them.
