They could take away all of NPRs state funding and it wouldn’t even have to drop a single show from its lineup.

”All over the world, wherever there are capitalists, freedom of the press means freedom to buy up newspapers, to buy writers, to bribe, buy and fake “public opinion” for the benefit of the bourgeoisie.

This is a fact.

No one will ever be able to refute it.”

Maybe don’t fly spy planes over sovereign nations.

My little bro sent me this in xhs earlier and it made me smile that he’s still on there.

It’s not just the president. Biden deported more people than trump did in his first term, Obama deported more than any president before him. The US empire continues regardless of who is in power. The only thing that changes is whether the fox smiles before he kills you or the wolf bares its teeth.

I agree, but it didn’t prevent them being charged with it, which got them off the campus and made them get legal help and bail money until eventually the charges were dropped. It was a transparent effort to charge them with anything/something heavy and scary just to get them off the street and into the legal system, sapping their time and energy.

Yes indeed, the protests were peaceful. The violence against the protests by police and Zionists wasn’t though. In my own state, hundreds of protestors were arrested and charged with felony RICO law violations for soliciting donations to maintain the protest.

Lmao. Sure there was. I’m sure you’re getting that data from a non biased source not aligned with American interests, right? There’s more than 3,800 child laborers in my state alone. In fact, they’re legally working much of the time. Many states have lowered the legal working age, and constant reports come out about children working in horrific conditions doing dangerous work such as slaughterhouses.

Then let’s talk about the brutal assault and suppression of the pro Palestinian protests last summer. On public property, assaulted by agents of the state, hundreds arrested and charged with felonies for speaking their mind, threatened constantly by public officials, laws made to criminalize criticism of the client state of Israel. Or the hundreds of journalists, veterans, and protestors assaulted for daring to speak out against the current regime during press conferences and rallies. Just today, multiple journalists were assaulted during a press conference with Blinken.

It is in fact true, despite what you’ve been propagandized to believe.

Repression of hate speech is objectively a good thing. “Free speech” in our society is a dog whistle for allowing far right to spread conspiracy and lies without any repercussions. Western media heavily suppresses speech that cuts against their interests. Say “free luigi” on Facebook or instagram and see what happens. Say “free Palestine” on instagram and see what happens. Yet, literal fascists are allowed to (and even further spread by people like musk) to spread antisemitic conspiracies and objectively false and misleading pseudoscience without issue. Hundreds of left leaning journalists were banned on X in one day, for nothing more than being ideologically opposite to Elon Musk.

Put simply, the illusion of “freedom of speech” in the west is just that, an illusion. China does not suppress the majority of speech, they just don’t allow ideologues to sew conflict and falsehoods.

I just had one tell me Lenin was a liberal lmao. Like, sorry he prioritized moving out of semi-feudalism over ending currency and commodity production, I guess he should’ve just left life expectancy at 30 as long as everyone was equally poor, right?

Another great podcast from the Black Myths Pod, this time on Hyper-Imperialism, global blocs, and development. If you don’t already follow these dudes, you should.

Thirty-six-year-old Chen Wang, from southeastern China, said he decided to come to the U.S. in late 2021 after he posted comments critical of the ruling party on Twitter. He was admonished by local police and feared that he could be imprisoned.

More than two years later, he is still unemployed and lives in a tent in the woods that he has made into a home. Chen described his fellow Chinese on the journey as simply people “chasing a better life.”

Big oof there buddy. Came to the wrong place.

I stopped using Amazon a while back, but it was where I got all my books for a long time. I do thriftbooks mostly now, and try to buy directly from publishers when it’s a newer book, but I’m always interested in finding new spots to cop some sweet books.

Is just such a shock from being in China. Just got harassed and essentially threatened for being a socialist. They searched my bags and commented on my China flag and my little red books and my copy of Blackshirts and Reds. Fucking police state. The security in China is strict, but they don’t give a fuck about your thoughts, whereas this guy was very aggressive about “consequences” for being a socialist.

God damn I fucking love China. It is so nice here. Little things, like sidewalks being wider, make such a huge difference. Tomorrow I’m going to the tomb of the second Khan of the Jing Dynasty and first emperor of the Qing dynasty. It’s literally just chilling in a public park, and you pay like ¥5 to go inside and check it out. So much history just bursting at the seams, and yet it still feels so much more modern than my home state in many ways.

They’ve also been sandbagging negotiations for the last 9 months, the union today is on a march, no strike action yet.

It’s so frustrating trying to talk to Americans about foreign policy. Most recently, we have all these stories about China stopping western warplanes from entering Chinese territory being spun as Chinese aggression. As if flying armed jets less than 100 miles off the coast of a country you threaten on a near-daily basis isn’t threatening them. No one even questions why these jets are flying so near Chinese airspace. What business does a Canadian jet have off the coast of China, other than to threaten and intimidate? I mean, the most recent one was literally on a mission to intimidate North Korea. Fucking frustrating.
