I have so much love for that Burmese Bella Ciao cover... I think I actually heard it first a while ago after the It Could Happen Here podcast series on Myanmar sent me down a bunch of rabbit holes. It has the energy and cultural context that this song actually should have, fuck all the Netflix TV show co-opted EDM remixes that people know Bella Ciao for these days. Thanks for bringing this specific memory back.

Holy shit I was NOT expecting to find the Modena City Ramblers in this thread, but having grown up on them it's such a heartwarming surprise. <3

I know some of the other names and I'll go through the rest when I have the time. Thanks!

So far most of the stuff I've checked out is not exactly up my alley, but some of it surprised me in a great way. The beat from It Burns for example is great, love that mangled bassline!

Wow nice, I'm really liking Exit English so far. It's a bit rhythmically messy for my taste but the energy is really on point. Cheers!

It drives me nuts that the plot of the new season sucks as much as it does, because it's also one of the best looking shows I've seen in a while. The battle scenes are genuinely pure cocaine and I want them injected straight into my veins. I - unfortunately - had a great time watching it.

But the plotline, the ending especially, isn't just lib. It's straight up fash. Two seasons of a revolutionary civil war of an oppressed population against their elite get resolved by... uniting against a common external enemy? That's the plot arc of fascist Italy in the '20s. Or Weimar Germany.

You're right, the shaping outcomes part is especially well put. The dispiriting thing is that as long as we're not the ones being fucked over I don't see my colleagues giving much of a shit about organizing. They're generally happy about the company. The problem here is the effect our work has on other people.

I feel this, that's my usual attitude. This time I didn't manage to keep the anger under control I guess.

Unfortunately we're not the highly unionized workforce in question. We're the tech contractor they want to replace said highly unionized workforce with. We're not unionized and I don't see the majority of my colleagues giving a shit except for a couple likeminded people. It's bleak deeper-sadness

I love that this joke has been alive since ye olden days of the subreddit, I had a nostalgic moment reading it...
