U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agrees with him that letting voters send in ballots by mail puts honest elections at risk.

"Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said you can't have an honest election with mail-in voting," Trump told Fox News Channel's "Hannity" after a nearly three-hour meeting between the leaders in Alaska. "He said there's not a country in the world that uses it now."

Who knew they were discussing how to subvert democracy instead of what they were suposed to discuss. Putin is definitively Trumps handler.

[–] Nico_198X@europe.pub 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

that's evidence you're wrong, you fucking muppet

I don't think it's fair to criticize Putin for this, it's consistent with his stance on other forms of voting.

[–] MummifiedClient5000@feddit.dk 36 points 2 days ago

Just taking some notes on democracy from an actual fascist dictator. No biggie.

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 34 points 2 days ago

Of course the fascists want everyone susceptible to voter intimidation. Yawn.

I hate this cuntery.

My mommy let me visit my friend Vlad and were were talkin', ya know. And he said, you know what? I agree with you that mail-in voting is bad. And I said, yeah, right? See I know my friends agree with me. I'm going to go back and tell mommy what my friend Vlad said and say "See, mommy, even Vlad agrees!"

Fucking toddler child loser leader of MAGA losers. WTF is wrong with these people?

Headline: Trump says Putin agrees with him US should not have ~~mail-in~~ voting

FTFY Subby.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

“You shouldn’t have mail in voting, because we can’t hack mail. So ….get rid of it”

[–] Decq@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (13 children)

Why aren't there anymore protest in the US? Were the Kings Day protests really the only thing we are going to get? Those obviously never were going to do jack ahit. Is the general population actually ok with what's happening? It's hard to get a good reading on the general vibe over there from far away. I just can't phantom why DC is not being overrun with protesters right now.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 19 points 2 days ago

I think there are protests but coverage and communication is limited. Probably because a lot of news and platforms are owned by shitty, rich, people.

[–] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago (3 children)

There are protests every week, even in my tiny ass rural Appalachian city.

People are actively resisting ICE and the National Guard however they can

And they've already pulled back on federalizing DC because nobody wants to pay soldiers to clear homeless camps

Everyone other than MAGA is furious and terrified in some measure and most of us are doing what we can. This aint France where you can effectively gather people quickly, this country is huge and most of us live in the sticks. We gotta do what we can where we are. Shit, its like a 5 hour drive for me to get to my state capitol, I can't do that all the time.
