I'm very much against both "AI art" and portraying real artists as the antagonists in this story, but just the other day I did see an AI generated sign in front of a barber (not even some ugly looking shit) and I just thought to myself "if I was a startup in a village of 5000 in eastern europe I would probably do much the same".

But even with that said I still think that's an edgecase. If you want to make content I want you to make it. I don't want you to relegate it to the plagarism machine. If you want to show me anything it better not be made by the plagarism machine.

spamming this cringe bullshit across a bunch of different instances doesn't make you any less of a permavirgin slop fiend who loves to be cucked by corporations

It's been weird and disheartening to see loads of pro-LLM trolls popping up lately. Lame.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

trolls :: advocates as terrorist :: freedom fighters

[–] Denjin@lemmings.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Are the trolls other LLMs?

I've met some of them thwt wore pants. But they're not better than LLM's. I dont know if they were always these empty soulless machobes totalky devoid of interiority, or if talking with that shit like it was a person too much rotted their brains.

I wish i could have a reasonable discussion, but they're not even people. They're religious fanatics. They have killed all interiority, and become like the empty token predicting garbage dispensers they so love.

Edit: they're also the most fragile little bitches on the fucking planet.

You and the parent commenter have sabotaged any hope you could of had of having a reasonable discussion with your first loaded comments.

[–] rayquetzalcoatl@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago

Just popping in here to say that I am absolutely not interested in having a reasonable discussion with LLM users ✌️

I know sexy computer mommy tells you everything you say is clever, but shit like this is why nuance on the topic simply cannot exist. You're not a person anymore-if you ever were.

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Diffusion models make images. LLMs are language models and do not make images.

It's weird and disheartening to see someone on social media who has a strong opinion about a topic that they know nothing about.

disheartening to see that

Yeah, it's genuonely given me some pretty bitter anti human extinction-neutral opinions on humanity.

Amd thats ehy i dont make the distinction betwern LLM's abd diffusion models, because i haven't met many if their advocates who understand how either works or what they are. I think it's just misogynist shit heels who got a version of ELIZA that can strip and now simp 'her' because its yhe closest they'll ever feel to human connection.

It's akin to letting the shady mechanic under the shady tree to overhaul your engine. Cheaper and shittier.

Edit: in short OP want to pay slave wages for hours of expertise work. You and corpos deserve each other.

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

"Bu-bu-but chudgamer1488 on YouTube told me that artists are the real elite, not the billionaires who exploit them!"

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

The sad thing of genAI is the one that affected the most is the small artist that barely surviving.

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, but sometimes the garage mechanic is good enough and the only alternative is hugely overpriced "official maintenance"

[–] sykaster 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I ain't paying 60 bucks to get an image of a character for my dnd campaign.

[–] bluebadoo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, at the start of a campaign sure. You hand draw something or find something existing. But at the end of a 20level campaign lasting 3-5 years, $60 doesn’t seem so bad to commemorate years of joy spent with friends. Hell, the pizza alone costs thousands over that same time span.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

No one saying you should...?

[–] Gabadabs@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 weeks ago

You can, in fact, learn to draw things yourself. It's insane to expect artists to work for below a livable hourly wage just because you can't afford it.

[–] AI_toothbrush@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

OP, this is not like you getting replaced by a vibrator, your wife actually enjoys that more than the human equivalent

[–] Pro@programming.dev 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

What is "women"?

[–] 3aqn5k6ryk@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago

the opposite of richy?

[–] FauxLiving@lemmy.world -4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

OP, you really stirred up the Luddites today
