Frantz Fanon, born on this day in 1925, was a West Indian Pan-Africanist philosopher and Algerian revolutionary most known for his text The Wretched of the Earth.

Fanon was born to an affluent family on the Caribbean island of Martinique, then a French colony which is still under French control today. As a teenager, he was taught by communist anti-colonial thinker Aimé Césaire (1913 - 2008).

Fanon was exposed to much European racism during World War II. After France fell to the Nazis in 1940, a Nazi government was set up in Martinique by French collaborators, whom he describedas taking off their masks and behaving like "authentic racists".

Fighting for the Allied forces, Fanon also observed European women liberated by black soldiers preferring to dance with fascist Italian prisoners rather than fraternize with their liberators.

While completing a residency in psychiatry in France completing, Fanon wrote and published his first book, "Black Skin, White Masks" (1952), an analysis of the negative psychological effects of colonial subjugation upon black people.

Following the outbreak of the Algerian revolution in November 1954, Fanon joined the Front de Libération Nationale, a nationalist Algerian party. Working at a French hospital in Algeria, Fanon became responsible for treating the psychological distress of the French troops who carried out torture to suppress anti-colonial resistance, as well as their Algerian victims.

While organizing for Algerian independence in Ghana, Fanon was diagnosed with leukemia that would ultimately kill him. He spent the last year of his life writing his most famous work, "The Wretched of the Earth" (French: Les Damnés de la Terre). The text provides a psychiatric analysis of the dehumanizing effects of colonization and examines the possibilities of anti-colonial liberation

Following a trip to the Soviet Union to treat his leukemia, Fanon came to the U.S. in 1961 for further treatment in a visit arranged by the CIA. Fanon died in Bethesda, Maryland on December 6th, 1961 under the name of "Ibrahim Fanon", a Libyan nom de guerre he had assumed in order to enter a hospital after being wounded during a mission for the Algerian National Liberation Front.

"In the World through which I travel, I am endlessly creating myself."

The original ídea for The West Wing was that the president would be an off screen character and they'd focus on the white house staff.
I would like to pitch a similar idea, a medical drama that doesn't feature any kind of doctor on screen, instead we're only seeing administrative staff, cleaners, nurses, students, other medical support staff, etc.

Okay but now that I'm drinking I felt like picking up Stalin's History of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (Bolsheviks) Short Course again. Reading about dialectical materialism listening to DJ Screw hits different screm-cool

CW: talk of Epstein and Nasser

Refreshed my memory on the Epstein events and it's all so haunting. Is it strange the case was dismissed after he was killed or is that normal? Shouldn't they still have investigated something and charge the estate or whatever?

I don't believe in justice through law; I don't think because it's legal means it's just. I was watching the court case when the dad of 3 victims in the larry nasser case asked the judge for 5 minutes to attack nasser, of course she said no but he ran to attack anyway, rightfully so, but was stopped by court police and arrested. He wasn't charged but it doesn't feel just to say "don't worry, the court of law will handle it" and it's just having nasser sit in a cell until he dies. Just society would have given the dad the 5 minutes, maybe 1 minute to be fair or 1 punch in the face-need to save space for other victims to get their justice.

Red cabbage gets its colour from anthocyanins, which act as a naturally-occurring pH indicator and will turn deeply red in acidic environments. That's why the colour retains, and even intensifies, when you combine with vinegar.

Hey so its late and I'm having some trouble falling asleep so I'm dropping a take.

In paradox games... who are you playing as? Like what role are you inhabiting. If you play a red alert game you're inhabiting the role of some unseen and unheard commander, if you play Mario you're playing Mario usually. In paradox games you're playing a different thing. In a paradox game you're not playing the head of state or head of government those come and go, you're not playing a commander those also come and go, and when you're playing hoi4 for instance you remain in control as your nation succumbs to fascism or the revolution overthrows tbe old regime so you're not playing the government either. You're playing the weltgeist, you're playing the national spirit as a numen. Paradox games are fascist national mysticism taken to its logical extent.

Once you are socially isolated there's no way to escape it, it's like there's a stench to you that everybody can smell and everybody will avoid you forever. Either you're socially integrated and you can got to bars and meet people and live and love or you're not and you can't live at all and there's nothing you can do about it

Every time Super Eyepatch Wolf makes a video about a game I watch half of it, close the video swearing that I'll play the game myself, and then don't.

edit: hmm it seems he's only made three videos about specific games which is weird because it feels like he's done more

Frustrated by the slow rate of play with the three concurrent games of abiotic factor i have running as everybody I'm playing with basically wants to play two hours every two or three days, but I'm not sure if I want to start a fourth game when I'm already plagued with "what the fuck was I doing" every time i load it up

Tomorrow im gonna make the best pizza ever. We have a tahini, lemon juice, turmeric and olive oil dressing for a new salad and its dope but it got me thinking about the supplies on hand for the new menu so here's the scheme:

Base spicy garlic tahini:

Tahini

Olive oil

Lemon juice

Garlic scape

A Thai chilli, only want a bit of spice

Salt and pep

Blitz that in a food processor.

Toppings

Pickled shallots

Roasted zucchini

Crumbled almonds

Fresh basil and cold cherry tomato after the oven

That is gonna hit so hard

Is like.. heroin or other depressants cannon for the matrix universe? Cause im.guesding being a human battery requires some kind of energy output or they'd just have us sedated in an easy and normal way instead of doing a whole simulation. So why are theire drugs within that simulation that defeat its own purpose. A guy nodding on digital opiates isn't gonna hafe the same human battery output as someone not doing that in matrix logic. So why would it exist in the first place? Contrary to Joe Rogan drugs are kinda proof we don't live in the matrix

So I had an idea to do some credit card fraud. So hypothetically, as a regular wasp, could I get an Isreal passport and take credit cards out on it? I have no papers indicating I am Jewish but I doubt they check it that hard. I could probably get a llm to make me some.

I've started to use DeepSeek for certain technical questions for which I once used Google (because Google is shit now).

These new-fangled LLMs are actually useful when you know absolutely nothing about a topic. High-level overviews seem to be their strength.

Then again, it will occasionally get details wrong. When I point it out, it says "oopsie poopsie! 🤭 you're right! Sorry about that UwU".
