If this works, it's game over for the Republican Party.

[–] Xande@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 6 hours ago

When did they forget he is an immigrant too?

Oh, wait... he's an insanely rich white immigrant... nevermind.

[–] MyOpinion@lemmy.today 7 points 9 hours ago

Divide the Trump base! Yes!

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 15 points 16 hours ago

He is 100% not going to do anything. Oh he may say he will but they will never field a single candidate and support Republicans to the hilt. This is at best a way for him to grift

[–] boolean_sledgehammer@lemmy.world 18 points 18 hours ago

If it puts the hyper racist conservatives against the conservatives who tolerate the hyper racist conservatives I'm all for it.

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 17 points 18 hours ago

I just want to see him actually keep his word and keep Republicans who voted for the big bill from getting reelected.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 11 points 18 hours ago

American Nazi Party. Now that somehow brings up a New Order to the political game, doesn't it?

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 53 points 1 day ago (1 children)

“Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he said.

Yes, because Musk is the first person that comes to mind whenever "actually cares about the people" is mentioned. 🤮

[–] bcgm3@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

On the other hand, there's a certain authenticity that comes from knowing he came up with the slogan himself (because there's no way that any AI -- even grok -- would generate something so tepid and transparent).

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

And there it is, the name/term “American” is forever negative.

[–] vga@sopuli.xyz 1 points 14 minutes ago

South American?

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 66 points 1 day ago (4 children)

America party

with this kind of creativity is anyone surprised that the cybertruck was so successful and universally loved? true genius savant

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

named after the US Nazi party.

"America first party"

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 4 points 19 hours ago

America first has long been the GOP's motto anyway. you don't need separate parties; they're all the same.

[–] floo@retrolemmy.com 11 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

At least he didn’t call the X party

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago

Twas probably a close second.

The GOP and Democratic sychophants wish that they had renamed their party this first.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 3 points 22 hours ago

The mascot will be... the weasel.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 70 points 1 day ago

I did Nazi that coming.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk said Monday.

“Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he said.

This shit is hilarious. So he didn’t like the bill because it didn’t make enough cuts? Or is it that it provided too much money for ICE? Either way, he will have plenty of new party members. Stupid people eat this shit up.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 37 minutes ago

he wasnt getting anymore gov't subsidies, probably.

[–] DetectiveNo64@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I think it's because it ended EV rebates or something? I try not to follow too closely.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 10 hours ago

Oh shit, I forgot about that part. I think you’re right.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 8 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (3 children)

He's just trying to apease the frustrated to get a voter base... But the real plan here is to dilute the democratic voter base even further cementing the republicants to stay in power.

If those party comes in 2nd, he'll just conceed and give his votes to the Republican candidate.

If they win, then hell just cozy up to Republicans anyway.

Remember RFK Jr when he ran as independent.

This is THE PLAN

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 36 minutes ago* (last edited 35 minutes ago)

i dont think hes drawing any dem supporters, rfk jr AND jill russian stein mostly drew republican voters, or people that "are undecided" i was following rfk jrs voter campaigns and he mostly got the people that usually dont vote, or the undecided and some republicans.

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 18 hours ago

Damn, I had not considered that. I should have known that this was yet another ploy to keep fascism in power. I mean, after the Nazi salute, I should have kept that in mind when examining why he does what he does.

[–] avidamoeba@lemmy.ca 2 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Aren't most US elections FPTP? If so, during the election he'll split the right vote which boosts Democratic/other candidate's chances. If they get a few senators elected with Democrats getting fewer than a majority, then for sure the plan would work as you described it.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 33 minutes ago

rfk jr strategy? thats what rfk initially tried to do until he found out that he was likely hurting Rs intead.

I wonder what his party's stance is on taxing the rich.

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 4 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

If he'd be smart, he'd do a hiiiigh tax on every rich person. Up to a fortune of, let's say, his fortune. Would be hard to not vote for him then 😁

[–] Nay 20 points 1 day ago (18 children)

Hopefully this will be like a first up tech startup where they are super successful for a while, then someone else comes along and does it better.

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 42 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Hopefully it'll act as a spoiler against the republican candidate, opening the door for a progressive party to also form without causing a far-right candidate to get elected.

I'm hoping we get ranked choice voting more widespread because of it.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 8 points 1 day ago

Honestly this is a great and perfectly realistic outcome. Of course, assuming ICE doesn't just seize all the voting machines for the next election and Trump wins by 104% (which I think is a lot to ask at this point).

If, somehow, we have free and fair elections coming up, then a splintered right from the bullshit Musk and Joe Rogan put together or whatever, and a splintered left because their constituents want them to stop making it legal to hunt Palestinians for sport, makes it perfectly sensible that the dinosaurs who run our government could declare that some form of post-19th-century voting system that would enable a little bit fairer outcome than FPTP is what's needed. And, when the dinosaurs want something to happen, it usually actually happens, without all this molasses speed when it is merely because of people dying or whatever the problem the regular people are having is.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill, which increases the debt ceiling by a record FIVE TRILLION DOLLARS that we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk said Monday.

If you just want a small-government party, there's already the Libertarian Party.

2.4 Government Finance and Spending

Since all persons are entitled to keep the fruits of their labor, we oppose all government activity that consists of the forcible collection of money or goods from individuals in violation of their individual rights and strive for the eventual repeal of all taxation. To further that end, we call for the repeal of the income tax, the abolishment of the Internal Revenue Service and all federal programs and services not required under the U.S. Constitution. We oppose forcing employers to serve as tax collectors. We support any initiative to reduce or abolish any tax, and oppose any increase on any tax for any reason. To the extent possible, we advocate that all public services be funded or allowed to be provided in a voluntary manner.

2.5 Government Debt

Government should not incur debt, which burdens future generations without their consent. We support the passage of a “Balanced Budget Amendment” to the U.S. Constitution, provided that the budget is balanced exclusively by cutting expenditures, and not by raising taxes.

Don't think they'd be onboard with your anti-trans thing, though.

1.4 Personal Relationships

Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the government’s treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration, or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, promote, license, or restrict personal relationships, regardless of the number of participants. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships. Until such time as the government stops its illegitimate practice of marriage licensing, such licenses must be granted to all consenting adults who apply.

LP went full-on Trump on the last elections though. Also, they're pro-Russia but then again so is probably America Party.

give them a minute. The LP has been swinging right to try and court embarrassed republicans. I know this because I aligned with them enough to vote Jorgensen in 20.

[–] Whirling_Cloudburst@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Shouldn't it be the Africa party tho?
