Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --
Proud of what?
That blue peak area between 2020 and 2025 pretty much encompasses all the performative brunch liberals.
becoming extra nationalistic after experiencing 2020: the year your country grossly mishandles a pandemic leading to innumerable deaths while BLM puts a spotlight on the violent systemic racism around you
Yeah but have you considered that Biden was such an amazing leader that he completely restor-- I'm being told he fell down the stairs complaining about corn Cob again.
For the immense amount of shit liberals give conservatives for being dumb fools for their party, they sure manage to not shake the allegations themselves
America is a medicineless burger wasteland ruled by a succession of pedophiles who like to drop bombs on little children.

Bit idea: tradcath who believes all deadly sins can be forgiven except pride in being an American because Jesus could not have known about America yet when he died for your sins
Maoist tradcath is a solid bit. The KKK in AmeriKKKa is for the Trinity.
Where did the deadly sins come from anyway? And why aren't they the same as the commandments?
The 7 deadly sins are very loosely based on a few of the 10 commandments, but were created by Gnostics in like the 200s AD.
Pride: Bearing false witness? Greed: No Stealing? Wrath: No murder? Envy: Coveting your neighbor's wife? Lust: Coveting your neighbor's wife? Gluttony: -- Sloth: --
So really they're just kinda their own thing that the Gnostics/Catholics came up with for confessionals.
Gluttony and Sloth aren't linked to any commandments, but are likely added to target Epicurians/Hedonists/Materialists. Honestly most of them are reactionary positions against the more agnostic philosophies of Greek and Roman philosophers.
It's the guidebook for being a reactionary cult in the collapsing Roman empire.
Gotcha. I was ready to blame the Gnostics, felt like something they'd do.
I've heard a few different people argue that all of them are really just pride/greed. Lust, Gluttony, Envy, Sloth are just Greed in different "areas" of life. Wrath and Pride are more similar, but could be seen as either Greed itself, or as a reaction to greed. Like, wrath as a protective reaction to one's greed, and pride as a reaction once greed has been achieved.
I think one of them even suggested its all pride, as Christianity largely sees pride as the #1 sin. To me it makes sense, because a medieval peasant could run this show better then god at this point. If the poors think they're better then the dumbass running the show, they might do something. Make even the thought of replacing god a crime and you got a self controlling populace.
In traditional Catholic views Pride is actually closer to blasphemy/apostasy than anything else. By taking "pride" in your accomplishments you reject the alternative: thanking God. You're tacitly saying God wasn't involved. You pair that up with the idea that all non-Christian religion is rooted in primordial satanic trickery. You get the idea that pride is akin to rejecting God and doing self worship because you aren't worshipping God and being humble. Satan is everywhere God isn't. But Satan can only be where God isn't and being unholy is doing bad so Satan only really exists in bad choices people make and not acknowledging the primacy of God in all things is a bad choice and therefore the sin of pride.
What I was taught is that they're pre-sins, like pre-diabetes. If you're on a sinful path and don't change course, your lifestyle will lead you to sin. So lustful people will eventually cheat if they're not corrected, greedy people will steal, etc.
So basically thought crime but for God
The pre-sins aren't full sins until you break an actual rule. The point is to straighten people out when they're at the stage of giving bad vibes and red flags, before they've done anything serious.
But also yeah pretty much. It's Catholicism lol
still splitting it by the meaningless metric of political party
And they don't even show the "moderately proud", "only a little proud", or "not proud at all" lines.
Here's the actual June 2025 result
In other words, the chauvinism is still going strong. But who knows about the polling methodology.
age breakdown:
i'd be curious to know 18-24 and different regions like cali or the north-east tbh
Props to the fence-sitters at "only a little proud" for hedging their bets.
And I'm a little proud to be an American.
Where at least I'm free for now.
And I'll sometimes recall the men who died.
Just to ensure access to the developing world's resources for me.
And I'll probably stand up next to you.
And offer tepid praise.
Cause there are some doubts I love this land.
The US is just okay!
:le-hexbeargold:
"Which of these options do you feel represents you? America - Great country or America - Greatest country ?"
I'll give them a tiny amount of slack in that they probably need to keep the question consistent over a long period of time (going back to at least 2001 according to this chart). But it is absolutely agree it's a totally chauvinist/jingo question.
Why would a Chicano fly the flag of the country thatโs repressing them?
atleast now (and maybe) burgerstani's are waking up to reality of our country's penchant for political violence and skullduggery.
