Isn't he in the US right now?

With the whole Glastonbury kerfuffle I've come to know more about this band called Bob Vylan. They have this lovely song, and it goes ike this:

I heard you want your country back

Shut the fuck up

I heard you want your country back

Uh-uh, you can't have that

The only place I know

Stolen right under my nose

By ignorant scum

Tryna lay claim to a land that ain't theirs anyway

Wait - what did you say?

I heard you want your country back

Ha! Shut the fuck up

I heard you want your country back

Uh-uh, you can't have that

I heard you want your country back

Ha! Shut the fuck up

I heard you want your country back

Well shit, me too

I had a hotdog and fries for dinner last night. I ate watermelon and a butter tart for dessert. I ate everything with my hands. These magazi hystreonics are disgusting.

[–] Bieren@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

lol. Go back. The US has been a 3rd world country with iPhones for a long time.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 19 points 4 hours ago

Yeah if he doesn’t win the election after these attacks then the US has passed the point of no return. If even New Yorkers are too stupid to fall for this smear campaign then the US can’t be saved.

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

But he’s already in a third world country.

"He's already pulled over! He can't pull over any further!"

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

I asked my doctor if I should boost my vaccinations because I was traveling for work. He asked if I was traveling to third world countries and I told him, "Yes, the US." He boosted all of my vaccinations.

This guy's wife had to declare that she doesn't eat with her hands because her husband is so racist.

[–] Allemaniac@lemmy.world 1 points 54 minutes ago

what a vile excuse of a human being. I hope she is devorcing this racist cunt

[–] syreus@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

There is nothing wrong with living in a rural area or being a blue collar worker. The last sentence there is unnecessary.

As someone who has been in both those demographics, this guy doesn't represent me or the hardworking albeit sometimes simple people I grew up around.

Please don't use those words as a cudgel. It drives those undereducated and uninvolved people to identify more with this asshole than the progressives that have more in common with them beneath the surface.

[–] Sillyglow@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

So you’re not even acknowledging the full fledged racism that is the topic in this little whataboutism speech you put together there?

Nothing about the racism. Not one word to nod to the overarching story here.

So which part of you missed that? The rural part?

US is currently burning wheat farms cuz the world has shifted off of cheap wheat for something more stable.

And the world knows which ones are the red states and are boycotting.

So You have two choices: take it personally or acknowledge a consequence of ignoring racism and self interest replacing it with apathy and revenge. Just know this: Neither will make a difference in the long run. You’re still headed to the same destination. So even now with at this point you’re begging to ignore it. Noted.

You’re just echoing the overall problem here by not even acknowledging the topic.

It drives those undereducated and uninvolved people to identify more with this asshole

Don’t even pretend you were ever an ally.

[–] Sillyglow@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 hour ago

“Go back to the third world”

“Go back to your recheck farm”

so only then it got offensive for you.

Smells like fear

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 25 points 11 hours ago

Gill married Danielle D'Souza, the daughter of conservative political commentator Dinesh D'Souza, in 2017. They have two children and live in Flower Mound, Texas.

So Gill's father and wife are okay but a foreigner with differing political opinions is crossing the line?

Who? Man nobody has heard of desperate for warmth of spotlight.

Didnt they have the same reaction when somebody ate a cheese steak with a knife and fork? The things they fixate on...

Maybe if we keep squawking about a bunch of dumb shit, nobody will notice how many rural Americans are about to be fucked 6 ways from Sunday by this big beautiful bill. Then we can spin it as this guy eating with his hands made you lose your healthcare.

[–] ShittDickk@lemmy.world 12 points 11 hours ago

Go back to the third world where you'll have healthcare, and food is cheap, and many services are provided by the government. Go back to where medicine can be bought without 4 doctors turning their medi-square tip screen around, where self made men can become something without the financial backing of a sexual terrorist. Go back to a land of opportunity, of potential, of downtrodden poor people in need of a voice. Go back and help them rise to the top.

We're trying to become the world's last 3rd world country here.

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 34 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, I'm sorry. Which country is it again that can't do UHC but can spend billions on blowing up rockets while people starve and or can't find homes/shelter in this same "first world country"?

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

Is it India? Because that's where Gill's father in law, political commentator and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza is from. Maybe the D'Souzas can leave and take Gill with them.

[–] Karrion409@lemmy.world 42 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

Words cannot describe the hate I have for the entire American establishment with the exception of Bernie, Zohran, and AOC.

Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Mark Kelly I'll even chuck Tim Waltz in there.

[–] FordBeeblebrox@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago

Don’t forget Scott Kelly, not a politician but spaceman and just as cool as his twin.

Maybe we need more astronauts in government, take a good look at the big blue ball before making life and death decisions.

remember, the super rich are the enemy of the people, not your fellow citizens from different backgrounds

[–] SARGE@startrek.website 22 points 14 hours ago

I have more in common with a homeless person in Somalia, India, or China than I do with the super rich.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

A country that has no national healthcare, a life-style of economic struggle and a dictator for a leader? Hmmmm.

Remember the days when an openly racist comment like this would mean the end of your political career?

[–] peregrin5@piefed.social 99 points 19 hours ago (14 children)

For Republicans it actually boosts their poll numbers.

People want to be openly racist again. That's what MAGA really means.

Think the overt racism is bad now; it’s only going to get progressively worse.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 18 points 15 hours ago

It's the only way the right is progressive.

[–] Theprogressivist@lemmy.world 148 points 20 hours ago (12 children)

Republican Representative Brandon Gill has told New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani to "go back to the Third World" in response to a video of him eating with his hands.

I guess this asshole has never eaten a burger, chicken, hot dog etc. Fucking racist piece of shit.

Zohran getting under their skin. Love to see it

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 29 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

Blatant racism aside, look around at the devastation wrought by repugnantcon policies buddy. Zohran is already in a 3rd world shithole, and he has the audacity to try to make it somewhat more tolerable for those in his city.
