Legislator from Netanyahu’s Likud party opposes Iran truce

There’s already pushback to the Israel-Iran ceasefire.

Dan Illouz, a member of Netanyahu’s Likud Party, has said that the only deal the government must signed is Iran’s “surrender agreement”.

In a statement posted on X, Illouz said the “regime in Iran is not a regime with which agreements are made – but a regime that must be defeated”.

Illouz said that “if not defeated”, Iran will find new means against Israel.

This comes as Netanyahu faces pressure from right-wing members of his fractious coalition, as well as hardliners from his own party, to continue forceful action against Iran.

In recent days, Netanyahu has hinted that he will support a regime change in Iran, while Israeli media are advocating a partition of Iran along ethnic lines.

Netanyahu says Israel has achieved ‘all objectives’ of operation against Iran

Here are the details from the Israeli statement.

It said Netanyahu met his cabinet along with the minister of defence and the head of the Mossad last night “to report that Israel had achieved all of the objectives of Operation Rising Lion, and much more”.

“Israel has removed a dual immediate existential threat – both in the nuclear and ballistic missile fields,” the statement said.

The Israeli military “achieved full air control over Tehran’s skies, inflicted severe damage on the military leadership, and destroyed dozens of central Iranian government targets”, it said.

“In light of the achievement of the operation’s objectives, and in full coordination with President Trump, Israel has agreed to the president’s proposal for a bilateral ceasefire,” it added.

“Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire.”

🇰🇵 🇮🇷 Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA)

A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on June 23 as regards the U.S. military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities:

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea strongly denounces the attack on Iran by the U.S. which severely violated the UN Charter with respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs as the basic principle and norms of other international laws and violently trampled down the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state.

Opposing the threat and exercise of the force blocking the territorial integrity and political independence of a country in international relations is the purpose, principle and fundamental spirit of the UN Charter reflecting the general will of the international community.

The present situation of the Middle East, which is wholly shaking the basis of international peace and security, is an inevitable product brought by the reckless valor of Israel which has promoted its unilateral interests through ceaseless war moves and territorial expansion and by the Western-style free order that has tolerated and encouraged it.

Israel’s and the U.S. acts of further aggravating the tension in the Middle East and causing serious negative consequences to the global security structure by dint of physical strength under the pretext of the so-called "peacekeeping" and "threat removal" are amplifying serious concerns.

The just international community should raise the voice of unanimous censure and rejection against the U.S. and Israel's confrontational acts.

Netanyahu to ministers after the meeting: "Please remain completely silent and refrain from giving any interviews or commenting on recent developments."

[–] i_c_b_m@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 5 days ago

🔻 Sources now suggest the Iranian attack may have already begun.

🔻 Widespread GPS disruptions are being reported in Qatar and across multiple Gulf countries.

🔻 Saudi Arabia has placed its Air Force on maximum high alert.

🔻 Iran has positioned missile launchers for a potential strike on U.S. forces in the Middle East, according to U.S. officials speaking to the Wall Street Journal.

[–] i_c_b_m@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

At least four waves of missiles were fired at Israel from Iran today, but not many in total – about 10 or so maximum.

Having monitored these missile launches for the past week, there seems to be a slight change in tactics: less missiles but much more disruption, launched over different periods of time.

Today, raid alert sirens sounded for up to 40 minutes in parts of Israel. One damaged an electricity substation, knocking out electricity to 8,000 residents in the Ashdod port area. It’s now been restored.

And this is coming at a financial cost to Israel. According to the tax authority director, so far, 40,000 claims for compensation have been made by Israelis, totalling $1.3bn. Thirty buildings will have to be demolished.

“We’ve never seen so much damage,” says the tax director.

At the start of the Israeli attacks on the 13th, Mossad reportedly contacted IRGC commanders, warning them to resign from the Islamic Republic within 12 hours or be killed—urging them to record videos saying things like: “We won’t sacrifice our lives for those who ruined our country for 46 years.”
