This is high on my wish list as well. I might take a crack at this when I get a chance. From looking over the templates, I don't think it's too bad for a piefed-only version, but it would be my first time messing with the database structure for piefed and the stakes are higher than tweaking css or an html template.

In essence, it would just need to create a label that causes post images to blur (like nsfw or nsfl posts do depending on your settings). Then, when you go to create a post, it would be a box you tick, just like creating an nsfw post.

Because of federation, it would be nice if a piefed community mod could assign it to posts that federate in from platforms that don't support it. However, much like post flair, that would not federate out to other piefed instances if the community home instance isn't piefed.

Not just posts, I wish I could mark comments as spoilers as well.

Hey, wanted to follow up on this and let you know that I finished this up and it is now live. Community mods, when they are making or editing the post flairs in their communities, can toggle whether a post flair should blur the content or not. So, as a concrete example, I created a flair called Spoiler in !anime@ani.social, and if a post is tagged with that, then the images will be blurred.

Right now, this feature only works on piefed because lemmy doesn't support post flairs at all. Additionally, there are some complications about post flairs that crop up when a community's home instance is a lemmy instance. Basically, lemmy doesn't federate out post flair at all. So, even if I am assigning post flair from piefed.social, it doesn't federate out to other piefed instances because it isn't federated out by the community's home lemmy instance.
