Here are a few lesser known manga

  • Kyou mo Veranda de (is similar to telework)
  • Misumi-san Can't See Through
  • Tonari no Seki no Yatsu ga Souiu Me de Mitekuru
  • Kesa Mo Yuraretemasu (one of my favorite, it is heavier on the comedy and lighter on the romance)
  • Alice-san Chi no Iroribata (age-gap romance)
  • Ao no Hana, Utsuwa no Mori
  • Haru no Noroi (a very dark romance, with some elements of suicide)

I feel like there should be a dedicated fedihelp community for stuff like this. Also, if you have any microblog account (like mastodon), try asking for help with hashtags like #fedihelp or mentioning the account @FediTips@social.growyourown.services if you don't get any answer here.

Reliance Jio chairperson Akash Ambani had earlier asked the government to update the draft of the National Data Centre Policy so that Indian data remains within Indian data centres.

At least one lawyer present in the consultation on Tuesday said that the localisation mandate is ultra vires (exceeds the scope) of the parent act. The DPDP Act allows the Centre to blacklist territories outside India where personal data cannot be transferred.

OMG, vs code uses such a god awful system to choose which feature to implement?

[–] astro_ray@piefed.social 10 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I don't get the point of asking people on some forum or similar to upvote a feature request. If it is an useful feature, people will naturally upvote.

From my experience, dell has the best linux support for touch. Until Framework makes touch screens for their laptops maybe try going for dell.
Also, this is just my suggestion, research on your own as you are doing, since you know what you want best.

It looks like someone is spmming the issue tracker of Codeberg/org with mass mentions

I have started using privacy respecting software as much as I can for a while now. Particularly social media. I started with deleting my reddit account, and then one by one deleted twitter, instagram and all. The one thing I couldn't leave was whatsapp. I just cannot seem to leave it. Not just friends and family, but outside too. My mentor just use whatsapp for all types of communication except for some absolutely formal documents, where he uses email. Otherwise he doesn't seem to respond to email.

So, my question: If you have made the switch, have you convinced your peers to also make the switch?

The current avatar is a graphics created by "India in Pixels". The graphics describe what country is more representative of an Indian state, population wise. The graphics probably has a copyright (though I tried to reach out to the India in Pixels team about their copyrighted for the pictures in their website but they haven't replied). Other than that, it isn't really representative of the community and it's purpose.
I know the community is not very active, but I would still like to see a change that shows that the admins have faith in it.

Maybe you can find a more appropriate graphics in Wikimedia commons or someplace similar with a graphics with a more permissive license and something that fits the theme of the community properly.

Basmati rice — the region’s “scented pearl” — was probably once exported to the Roman Empire, historians say, and is today in growing demand in the United States and Europe. Yet its origins have never been more divisive or its future more uncertain.

Google Maps has been blamed for fatal accidents in India. An Indian politician recently suggested to the Parliament that the country should develop homegrown mapping solutions.Digital mapping experts believe these incidents are not specific to Google Maps and instead reveal systemic challenges to mapping Indian roads.

In July 2024, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal announced that his ride-hailing company had transitioned away from Google Maps to its in-house navigation platform — a move that he said would save $1 billion. On X, he encouraged developers to “#ExitGoogleMaps” for Ola Maps, promising a year’s worth of free access. By December, Google, too, had introduced a range of price cuts for Indian developers.

Google should not be held liable because it is “not a public utility,” Arnav Gupta, who has worked as a product engineer at companies including Meta, JioCinema, and Zomato, told Rest of World, referring to the police complaint from the November 2024 accident. Much of the onus of keeping firms and citizens in the loop falls on local government agencies, he said.

On January 24, 2025, the Supreme Court of India delivered a groundbreaking verdict affirming the Bombay High Court’s ruling on intellectual property loss compensation under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, and its 1995 Rules. “Data privacy issues regarding DeepSeek can be addressed by hosting open source models on Indian servers,” Vaishnaw said at an industry conference.

“We will be keeping our models open and application-focused,” he said.

Our Reel minister sound sincere here, but we all know he is going to f—k up. I don't know how or when, but he will f—k this up.

Today I saw the AI chatbot in the sidebar for the first time (I remember turning the setting of in the Labs settings, but they turned it on IG). Looking the options, it supports a number of models, but all of them seems to be on a remote servers. Is there any way to use an LLM run on my own machine?
