This is much darker than you might expect from a PG-13 summer camp movie. The Butterfly Revolution was co-written by Penelope Spheeris, who would later go on to direct Wayne's World.

Yep! The first one is the definitive document of the OG SoCal punk scene as far as I am concerned.
It's one of those obscure movies that once you see, you never forget.
Mind you, that isn't always good.
I can't eat certain sandwich meats without a song running through my head that features in the plot (that, surprisingly, is an actual song outside of the movie). But it's overall a solid watch just for the concept
