Meanwhile, HBO and Max CEO Casey Bloys has claimed that the Harry Potter TV show hasn't "felt any impact" from Rowling's anti-transgender views, insisting, "It hasn't affected the casting or hiring of writers or production staff or anything."

This should be taken with heavy skepticism, Rowling is notoriously controlling and her anti-trans bias absolutely could impact casting and staff choices.

I think it's weird the way she was publicly pushing for 'Only English Actors' in the movies, and seemingly had heaps of influence there. And now she's a billionaire she either has no influence on casting or doesn't seem to give a shit.

honestly I think the company is just trying to avoid a lawsuit and being found guilty in an obvious potential for a solid discrimination case

But following the announcement, he received a text from "a very good friend who is the mother of a trans child," linking him to a Book Riot op-ed entitled, An Open Letter to John Lithgow: Please Walk Away from Harry Potter.

As for whether the criticism has soured the role for him, Lithgow replied, “Oh, heavens no.”

Oh fuck off. Shame, I really liked 3rd Rock from the Sun.

Me too! Even though I was a deeply closeted and repressing trans girl in the 90s, I sooo appreciated Sally’s experience of going from living as an alien to living as a woman and discovering womanhood, living together with others who knew her background. It’s even more relatable now that I’ve done it myself.

"well this sort of thing has never personally affected me so I'm not sure why you'd think I'd care. I can't possibly know every little thing about some fringe of society, and frankly, I'd rather not get into it. It sounds unpleasant. I'm sure this will all blow over in no time. I just have to refuse to educate myself or pay any attention to people like my 'dear' friend and their concerns."
