I remember when they did it INSIDE buildings. And cars. Schools, hospitals... if you lived through the 80's you just have the pervasive smell of tobacco registered as a prime core memory.
I use to live in Vegas as a child occasionally. We'd sometimes go to the casinos for shows and have to cross The Floor

Because they're selfish inconsiderate pricks who can't fathom how disgusting they truly are.
Because that tiny overhang is the only goddamn shade/rain shelter in this entire city block. People love designating "that spot over there" as the smoking spot but hate putting any sort of shelter from the elements.
So? Whoever brought the cigarettes should bring a jacket or umbrella too.
That spot "over there" is so the smelly smoke can also stay "over there" and not end up in the lungs of healthy people.

I once insinuated that I hated the smell of vapes and people downvoted me, saying "noooo but blueberry muffin flavour actually smells so goooood"

Edit: to the people currently downvoting me, you guys do know vaping can also give you cancer and increases your risk of respiratory disease, right? And by vaping in front of other people you're forcing that risk on to them, right? Grow a little empathy
This is true, but it's so much better than walking through cig smoke, or smelling that shit in someone's car, or the nightmare of walking into someone's house that has tar all over the walls and furniture because they smoke in the house.
I'll take mass replacement of cigs with vape any day.
i really don't care what you put in your body of your own volition, whether legal or not. go for it, i'm not in a place to look down on you. but just don't make me breathe in your vape cloud. I smoke and I will only smoke in private or amongst people who smoke with me, or who have given me an explicit thumbs up to smoke near them. to do otherwise would be douchy.

I feel like Lemmy is starting to have a real problem with houlier-than-thou posting.
Life is fucking shit, if people want to cope through that with a little recreational drug use, let them enjoy that small pleasure. If you don't want to vape, more power to you, just don't act like it makes you better than them.
It’s just a joke based on a stereotype. It’s not that deep.
My bad, I was talking about comments in the thread, nit the meme itself.
Because they have from the car to the door to do it then who knows how long.
