Well that's already happened, the US already has a much cheaper and lesser powered weapon to deal with the drones in APKWS. I did a post on it here. The problem has been solved from a US perspective, Fox News is late to the story.
That's not going to stop the Pentagon and MIC from lobbying for more $$$$$$$$. Which is exactly what this kind of "news" is for.

Not only expensive, but slow to replace. Even with the unlimited money given by the treasury these interceptors take upwards of a month each to build with the current industrial (in)capacity within the AmeriKKKan empire.
Pile on the tariffs and blocking of rare earth metals and this can balloon both cost and time fast

my memory is not clear, but I think they can't even replenish the launchers at sea and have to port for it
That is correct. They had a program in the Cold War, but the only at sea missile reloading program is for submarines.
