The ultimate irony would be for them to start buying up EV. Now if there's any way to get them to think they're pissing off the libs by enacting reasonable environmental, gun, and LGBTQ/women's rights we'd be on a roll.

Buy a Cybertruck; convert it to an ICE vehicle.

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Third option: Blame Soros or Biden

Making choices in the "free market" of capitalism:

  • A car that will destroy your health, community, planet, etc.
  • A fascist car that will destroy your health, community, the planet slightly slower, etc.

Remember: Without a car you will live in poverty and isolation at best.

Its always good to note that roadways and parking- like trains, electricity, sewers, drinking water- are a public design choice made by politicians and are choices with consequences that affect everyone.

Simply buy a cybertruck and put a generator in the back that's constantly running to charge it.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

That would still make them cleaner than a diesel ICE truck. Since the generator can continuously run at a constant rpm where the engine burns the fuel efficiently. So that would also generate the least particulate matter since the burn would be cleaner.

There is a Canadian company called Edison who will retrofit a truck into a hybrid. They add two electric axle engines and convert the IC engine into a generator to charge the batteries.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

With all the ICE cars in use, I would love to see hybrid retrofitting go mainstream

[–] AlexWIWA@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

It’d be a great repair for cars that need a new engine block.

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Are you suggesting they drive... a hybrid?!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As long as you keep the generator running when you're driving it's just an externally located internal combustion engine.

[–] Dultas@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So an external combustion engine.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No the combustion occurs internally in the externally located engine.

[–] InvertedParallax@lemm.ee 2 points 15 hours ago

The ship has been towed outside the environment.

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)
[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

They could use a stirling engine as a generator, that’s what an external combustion engine looks like.

[–] Fedizen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Also a fire hazard.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There are videos that walk through how to "de-pussify" (or some other misogynistic term) cyber trucks to make them run on diesel. I don't know enough about cars or cyber trucks to know how valid they are.

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

That's hilarious. I'm guessing it would end up about as structurally sound as this

[–] GissaMittJobb@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

Implying the vast majority of their voter base can even afford Tesla's.

The ones that do would have to forgo owning a huge lifted truck which I guess would also be a benefit.

It's still not going to even come close to bail Elon out of the situation he's in on account of so many big export markets now refusing to buy his shit, so he's fucked regardless. No-win for him, all-win for us

[–] Transtronaut@lemmy.blahaj.zone 17 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How long before Tesla's next car has a combustion engine?

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Maybe they will run on trumps “clean coal” lol

[–] Wispy2891@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

They could exclusively charge at those superchargers directly powered by fossil fuels https://www.sfgate.com/centralcoast/article/tesla-interstate-5-supercharger-power-plant-18343119.php

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Like most of them could afford a Tesla.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Cash advance services see 800% profit with this one weird trick!

[–] ZJBlank@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

One weird truck*

If they sold the kidneys of their entire family, maybe.

[–] EstonianGuy@lemm.ee 19 points 2 days ago

Compromise, buy the tesla but destroy it so no one can drive it

[–] flightyhobler@lemm.ee 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I was wondering about this earlier today. How to they reconcile "Elon is God" with "Electrification goes against my fReEdOm"?!

Easy. You are allowed to drive an electric vehicle as long as you drink two full cups of leaded gasoline a day.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

Where do electric cars fit into "drill baby drill"?

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think they should go for it and buy the 21st century Pinto. No one, not a soul, is laughing at them. I swear.

[–] JcbAzPx@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Hey now, the Pinto at least had to be in an accident first before it would blow up.

They do not have to be Registered Nurses.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Judging by the effects of the market on Tesla stock, I really don't think this is the struggle that the meme suggests it is.

[–] itsgroundhogdayagain@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 days ago (3 children)

They will still find a way to make exhaust pour out the back

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah, after the batteries explode.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 day ago

Teslas are already very good at emitting plumes of smoke without their help, tyvm.

[–] RoamingWanderer@mander.xyz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or making them overly loud and obnoxious for no reason

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Have you not heard the WRUWRUWRUWRUWRU

[–] DrunkEngineer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Thanks to pollution credits, Elon gets paid regardless of whether they choose to drive an EV.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Leftists be like

[–] vegantomato@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Click both, get a hybrid

spoilerPeople on the internet who obsess with left-right politics are a psyop, including maga grifters who think discourse about the environment is a lib-thing.

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

😆 I think most people here didn’t get the joke

I think it is a good one
