Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.

*safely lands

Was on a flight a few months ago, and when we landed, no clapping - dead quiet. Out of the silence, I heard a, what must have been, six year old shout really loudly "WE DID IT!".

Standing ovation if you’re on a Boeing plane.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 7 points 1 day ago

Please remain seated until the seat belt sign is turned off.

Booing when a Boeing plane lands safely because you updated your life insurance for nothing.

[–] RedditRefugee69@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I prefer standing ovulations.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ovulation is just another fancy liberal word for abortion. Wasting eggs is killing babies.

Do I need this? /s

I hope I don't..

I have reported you to the FBI's Pro Life MAGA Task Force, brought to you by Carl's Jr.

[–] Sabata11792@ani.social 8 points 2 days ago

I wound recommend against that kind of intense horseplay on a Boeing product.

... clap if the plane lands

[–] 667@lemmy.radio 90 points 2 days ago (4 children)

All planes land, some more controlled than others.

Take-offs are optional; landings are mandatory.

All planes land

Some planes water

I find comfort in knowing there are more planes in the sea than there are submarines in the sky.

I was not prepared for boob wings this early in the day.

[–] goldteeth@lemmy.dbzer0.com 60 points 2 days ago (5 children)

I would argue that the one that exploded over DC last month had almost certainly ceased to be a plane by the time it hit the ground.

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 2 points 1 day ago

If you watch the more recent footage you can clearly see most of the plane slowly cartwheeling through the sky into the water. It was still mostly a plane.

Is a plane greater than the sum of its parts

Planely not.

[–] naught101@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Is a Boeing that lands with missing parts still a plane?

As long as you are able to clap the plane probably landed okay

[–] anindefinitearticle@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If they can still clap when the plane lands, they will.

🎵If you're alive and you doubted, clap your hands🎵

[–] A_A@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

🎼🎶 Clap your hands🎵 !

[–] Sorolainen@sopuli.xyz 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

ALL planes land. The question is, whether or not there is someone left to clap afterwards.

[–] ScrotusMaximus@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

If an American plane crashes in the woods and no one survives to clap does it make a sound?

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

I learned clapping was unappreciated the day of this week's plane crash, that I was scheduled to land at same airport that day. My reply is that us normal people are just happy to land upright. We all clapped when landing the next day.

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

Ok, that is pretty funny, but no. Still not acceptable.

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

I will still judge you.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 11 points 2 days ago

Even from your living room.
