(...) challenges assumptions (...)

No one else here at Lemmy has the slightest start of an hypothesis on how to go about these challenges. All they can do on this is criticize without having a clue.

Oh ! ... i get it thanks. Very surprised, i am though that so many users are contributing to such an old and insignificant tread ...

Once again i struggle understanding a simple English sentence. please help me :

(...) who part computer.

1st interpretation would be written differently for me ... i would write it like :
"for those who are part human, part computer" so i would have to reject that one.

2nd interpretation would be reading "part" as a verb ... like dividing something into parts. So : "taking a computer into many pieces"

Since I'm not sure how this second interpretation works, i start doubting my capacity and believe there might be a third interpretation ...

en français :D'accord peut-être que la structure est la même ... mais étant donné que j'ai de la difficulté à comprendre l'anglais, souvent je dois décomposer les phrases et les recomposer ... c'est ce que j'ai dû faire dans le présent cas.

Well ok maybe, but but but ... i struggle understanding English since i was born french ... so sometimes i have to, (like this once), decompose and recompose sentences to get ze meaning.

i don't know. Maybe this is what happens when reading English through a French mind.

This is encouraging since there is more chances to have developments in this area and in its direction, if it is indeed a common take.

Best for user experience :User want material that is :

  • newly published, and
  • classified using a hierarchy of methods.

Lemmy has :

  • communities
  • post
  • comments and
  • votes

which constitutes such a hierarchy of classification and engagement tools.

.
Design Flaws + Solutions

Notwithstanding the following :
Despicable//illegal posts should absolutely be deleted. Same from likely comments. But aside from that ...

Features creating user disengagement and disinterest :

Arbitrary deletions :
Since not following communities rules results in posts being deleted. Since this includes active conversation inside such posts. Since such community rules are quite arbitrary and difficult to judge by moderators. ... There has to be a better way than deleting such posts in such circumstances.

Design proposal :

Post unlinking // relinking :
A better design would allow moderator's action (or even bad enough vote totals) to unlink an off-topic-post from a community without deleting it from the instance (site).

Multi-linking of posts :
Better yet, a single post could be simultaneously linked to many communities even across many instances while maintaining one single global space of conversations.

Automatic anti-duplication
Creating duplicates of a post should be prevented automatically ... what should be prevented is the creation of new post linking to the same web page (same URL) as an already existing post does ... unless maybe with special permissions or if made after a long enough elapsed time.

New design's benefits :
This should result in a better user experience by grouping all discussions from one topic inside a unique post ... not dividing into multiple concurrent discussions, almost simultaneously, inside different (( posts // communities // instances )) what is in fact a single topic.
This would also provide peace of mind against arbitrary deletions.

Benefits for moderators
This would also decrease some drama (user to moderator feuds) and simplify moderator's work.

The Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances comprises three substantially identical political agreements signed at the OSCE conference in Budapest, Hungary, on 5 December 1994, to provide security assurances by its signatories relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). The three memoranda were originally signed by three nuclear powers: Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom. China and France gave somewhat weaker individual assurances in separate documents. The memoranda, signed in Patria Hall at the Budapest Convention Center with U.S. Ambassador Donald M. Blinken amongst others in attendance, prohibited Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations."...

i cannot add more blocked users so i went one by one through that list ... starting from the first one i blocked. Not surprisingly, looking at each account, they are either Banned or have No Activity Since ~1 year.

Eventually there could be some site maintenance for [ Banned + Empty ] accounts so to clean our block lists accordingly ...

Some other optimization of this type could be made ... i believe it would free the server from useless work since the server have to compute removing according to Long Block Lists ... this task could be heavy in server work ...

What do you think ?

is it well known and do people talk about it ... like in the mainstream media ?

for folks who don’t know, I was a part of a small organizing team that led to a mass mobilization in 813 cities worldwide in 2019.

I am not talking out of my ass.

You should be VERY VERY VERY careful in this environment about sharing flyers for events that identify NO organizer

The Nazi term Gleichschaltung (...), meaning "synchronization" or "bringing into line", was the process of Nazification by which Adolf Hitler - - leader of the Nazi Party in Germany - - established a system of totalitarian control and coordination over all aspects of German society "from the economy and trade associations to the media, culture and education".

The US is actually going to implement a nationwide abortion ban and the measures for how it's going to be handled are already in the works. This bill, which I link to here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-resolution/7/text , seems ok at first glance and only seems to want to implement nationwide healthcare centers for women. But when you actually look at what these Pro Women's Healthcare Centers are and mean to offer, it becomes really clear what's going on.

On the first page of the PDF or booklet that appear when you search for the healthcare centers it is clear that they are supported by pro-life organisations and hold extreme pro-life values. And when you read the (very short) booklet it states their values and services that are to be provided. Among them is a requirement for "Abortion Pill Reversal" and encouragement for "Sterilization Reversal". The last page clearly states their values, where among them it states that:

"Abortion is not women's healthcare, because of the damage it causes to women's physical and emotional health and the destruction of unborn life, many of whom are females. Abortion is usually something women turn to when they feel they do not have another choice. This is a tragedy and the opposite of choice and empowerment."

And it goes on to list similiar values. The bill to implement these healthcare centers states that:

"That the House of Representatives—

(1) expresses its support for women nationwide to have access to comprehensive, convenient, compassionate, life-affirming, high-quality health care; and

(2) recognizes the high standards established by Pro Women’s Healthcare Centers consortium as standards worth implementing nationwide."

This means that the values that these Pro Women’s Healthcare Centers have are to be set as standards nationwide.

More recently, it has been investigating how the Chinese hacking group called Salt Typhoon infiltrated major telecom providers such as Verizon and AT&T.

Summary

Donald Trump rescinded sanctions imposed by the Biden administration on Israeli settler groups and individuals accused of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.

The sanctions, established under Executive Order 14115 in 2024, targeted those "undermining peace, security, and stability" and froze U.S. assets of sanctioned individuals.

This marks a reversal of Biden’s policy aimed at curbing settler violence and supporting a two-state solution.

Trump’s decision aligns with his previous support for Israeli settlements, which most countries consider illegal under international law.
