It's like if Place was a tattoo

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

But unfortunately, we can't change this one. 😭

For me, it isn't the taste, that's always personal, so it's a shrug and whatever.

It's how many of them are badly done. Dude makes bank. He can afford good work. My twenty-odd years old generic flash piece looks better than most of those in terms of craftsmanship. And that's with some fading and blurring.

If that's the vibe he's going for, that's fine, I ain't mad at that when it's intentional. But there's some of those I'm actually confident I could have done and done just as well, and I suck. I've had people ask me to do weird shit they were not willing to go to someone that's skilled, and it's their skin, so I did it. But it was all janky as fuck. And there's some of these that are at that level of execution.

Idk if sarcasm or not but it is Ed Sheeran.

Oooh. The guy that copies whatever's popular at the time and gives no credit to the artists he rips off.

He has gotten quite...interesting looking over the years. Makes sense.

It's a guy who sang a song and it stayed at number 1 on the UK pop charts for the longest of any song ever.

Cause they don't have to apply for a job as bank teller.

[–] BilboBargains@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

To be fair, his internal compass has stopped him at the neckline and the bank teller avenue probably remains a option.

A: Is this real? B: Still better than Adam Lavine.

[–] Punchshark@lemmy.ca 3 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Definitely real! I heard he paid 50k for the lion on his chest

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 10 points 4 months ago

50k for that shit‽

[–] NakariLexfortaine@lemm.ee 8 points 4 months ago

The fuck? Was it done by poking him manually?

Shit, I think I have more detailed line work on my calf piece and it was only like $250 for a 3-hour session.

[–] LouNeko@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

Because most famous people are, on a deep level painstakingly boring. All their stories begin and end with

"... and then I went to [expensive place] and met my friend [other famous person]"

or

"... and then I did [other expensive activity] at [expensive place]"

They all try to up each other with ridiculousness to appear more interesting than they actualy are.

Yeah honestly not that bad, think calling it trashy is just subjective

Speaking as an artist i think most of my art is shit too in retrospect

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The best part is when they get into their 60s and 70s and you have to physically stretch out the folds to figure out what the original image looked like

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

If people are cool with that when they get tattoos, that’s fine. I’ve been told by a few that they like the reminder of who they used to be. Personally I would be unhappy with blurry smudges as “reminders”, and I also don’t need physical reminders, so I don’t get tattoos. I can really appreciate a truly original and well done piece of art as a tattoo…but far too much of what I see IMO is just shit with nothing original about it.

Shed Ear Ring

[–] JokeDeity@lemm.ee 3 points 4 months ago

There's a very bad ratio of good to shit tattoos on this man's body, lol.

[–] Barbudo@lemm.ee 2 points 4 months ago

I see he has his Tingly Ted hot sauce logo (bear) on his upper back.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

What difference does it make. The upper bound on how cool tattoos can possibly be is not as far from "shitty" as many would like to think.
