I thought these were the worst, but the Spotted Lanternflies are even worse. Things are a damned scourge

I haven't seen them yet, but they have been spotted in a neighboring county. Not looking forward to them.

Those things were everywhere southeast pa for a couple years but now i might see like 5 a year

They definitely seem like they explode in an area and then aren’t as prevalent, but I still see quite a few despite three summers ago being the worst near me.

They just want to cuddle with us in our nice warm houses!

We have them in our country for a couple of years now as an invasive species. Can't have a friggin window open or they are everywhere in the house.

i have seen that thing only once in my life like 15 years ago, and almost burned the house down. then my stepdad just took that nasty bug in his hand and took it outside...

the species that encourages humans not to squash them by smelling awful upon squashing

Heheh...kill it with fire.

Here in South Limburg about 3 years ago they became a plague and I have been vacuuming at least a 100 of these inside the house. According to Wikipedia they where first sighted here in 2018.

This year we will have custom made insect screens.

Life is good until one of these fucks fart on your nose

I had one die on my toothbrush. They're usually pretty good roommates, but that day I was pissed at the whole genus.

My favorite flavor of Jelly Belly is stink bug.

[–] Plum@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

The smell has been characterized as a "pungent odor that smells like coriander."

I'm strangely OK with this.

Huh. I'm a native French speaker and bugs like this are called 'punaises'. And I just learned that this specific one is apparently diabolical, with the name 'punaise diabolique'.
