another vote for material files. it's the only good one that can access smb shares. the only alternative I found was ghost commander and it's just absolutely horrible to use

I got so paranoid about librewolfs unique fingerprint that I threw it away and started using mullvad browser ๐Ÿ˜… I use the one you can manually download from mullvad website, as mint doesn't support mullvad repository. I just now tried the flatpak one and it was showing 600+ visits...but it's unverified, so idk if that's something to worry about?

I use basic firefox for stuff where I need to log in as me. probably won't prevent some goddamn AI from spying on me but at least I feel one bit safer ๐Ÿคก

just an idea I have. to keep my pc from sleeping while streaming content to my other devices, I have a script that uses xdotool to move the cursor 1 pixel to the right and immediately back every 30 seconds if my network adapter has transferred some data. make (or ask chatgpt to make) a script that recognizes some of your controller inputs and then moves the mouse, or it could press XF86_wakeup key (this will cause problems in web excel). also it could trigger by just having the controller plugged in.

last time I finally realized you could delete the panel and add new ones, but I remember the first time I just lost my shit and switched to another distro ๐Ÿ˜‚ and I agree it's better now, it was basically unusable a year ago. btw kubuntu uses x11, and it was still on plasma version 5.27.

I distrohop quite often, last time a couple of weeks ago. I tried nobara, fedora kde, and kubuntu. kubuntu was probably the best but some older games wouldn't run, animations stutter so bad I had to disable them, themes didn't work and some settings reset on every reboot. others had more serious issues, including constant crashing. I could blame it on nvidia, but cinnamon works just fine (except for one bug that took me over half a year to find a workaround).

and the taskbar... any time I try and resize it or move any item, it completely borks and it's quite hard to fix.

imo kde will give a bad impression of linux as it's quite buggy and the taskbar is way too easy to fuck up completely

there still is a reason to buy nvidia and it's HDMI 2.1.

I want to keep using an OLED TV as my monitor, 4k and 120hz. TVs still don't have displayport for some reason... and there aren't any >50" OLED monitors in 16:9 available, at least where I live. and AMD didn't get permission to use HDMI 2.1 driver in their open source driver. there is a dp > HDMI 2.1 converter, which sucks according to reviews.

the only thing I need it for is to select text vertically (by holding left alt). there are a few similar ones for linux but some crash and the rest don't have a dark theme, so I still use it with wine.

is this the next microsoft surface with windows 12?

etcher sucks ass. I read about it even breaking usb sticks, I've had it fail the flashing too multiple times. in mint I use the preinstalled usb flashing tool, in other distros popsicle and in windows rufus.

didn't realize it was under video call. we tried it, and it works perfectly! now I won't have to go back to asscord ๐Ÿ‘ thanks!

this was my life goal for a long time, but with the recent changes in politics, I'd rather move to a country ending in stan before going anywhere near that mess.

I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Manually suspending works, and it suspends automatically usually about 1 - 2 days after rebooting, then suddenly even the screen won't turn off.

broke my ankle. feel stupid.
