I looked up how to build a ladder and this how stuff works post was a top hit.

What the fuck is going on here. I have never seen anyone stand on a ladder like these 2 dudes. Is this an acceptable way to use a ladder????

PS Should I tag it NSFW? Doesn't OHSA require a harness here?

Harness on that ladder? No, they do not.

Edit: but, that is not an osha approved method of using the ladder and I'm pretty sure osha wouldn't approve a homemade ladder.

Looking more closely at this ladder I see the rungs are narrower on the horizontal, I guess to give more strength to the side rails. But the area for your foot appears to be 1" wide at most and possibly been rounded for a nice finish.

OTOH it looks to have been constructed on purpose to be used this way because generally ladders dont have matching rungs on each side. Presumably to discourage such useage.

I would agree, it looks like it was made this way. I'm not saying it's unsafe, just, OSHA would probably be unhappy about it

Had a painter doing my wallpapers that used the ladder like stilts. He also stood on the ladder like this and basically "walked" around the room on it. Here's a YouTube Short that has someone doing the same: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/XaBqXk5Tal4 .

Yikes.

It's all fun and games and saving precious minutes of time and effort until you fall over and give yourself permanent spinal damage.

I mean you can really see how how it saves time and is probably an invevitsble innovation.

But goddamned the time it goes bad, its not only a fall, its a fall squarely on the nuts.

Bravery like mountain biking with a straight top tube.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

The left person is better off than the right. Your center of gravity should never be that far from the ladder's.
