I remember hearing that when train bathrooms discharge into the tracks, seeds and shit would create issues in the right of way, because stuff grows in it.
I've seen tomato plants growing in the station before. Not recently, possibly because my section of the country doesn't dump waste on the tracks any more.
Fun fact, trains in the US and Canada still discharge Grey water into the tracks.
