What accessory are people even using this with is what I’m not sure of. I’m guessing they aren’t expecting to sell any of these anyway because even in a household full of iPhone users I can’t think of one possible use for this among us.

There are tons of devices with built in lightning ports. The most common thing is a dock where you’d be able to stick the phone on top of a speaker or something and charge and do audio all in one go. This cable makes it a whole lot less elegant, but it would let you use it.

Some cars also have hard connected lightning cables. Although that mostly died with the 30 pin.

I’m laughing at the thought of this plugged into a dock with the phone flaccidly hanging off to the side.

Now I can't stop thinking about flaccid dongles

The new iPhones have a USB-C port. This adapter takes Lightning and has a male USB-C, so it’s for using your existing Lightning cable to charge an iPhone 15.

I have wireless charged since the iPhone X. I more see moving to C as a win for accessories and maybe the rare occasion of needing a charger and having to borrow.
