I wonder if every episode will just be shitting on Trump?
I doubt it, they set up a bunch of storylines. The episode is barely about Trump, most of it is how we're responding to this new reality
Parker and Stone have always been counter culture centrists... But from global warming to increasingly obvious political shifts, they just had nothing to say and seemed to realize maybe they're not as smart as they thought
They didn't talk about Trump 45 or MAGA much because they want to cynically sit back and make fun of wokeness and caricature bigots. They want Cartman to be a source of shock value, and they want Stan to be their honest take of an honest person trying their best to make sense of the world
But now people are identifying with Cartman openly. The episode was not subtle about that. Things have gotten out of control... Stan's arc was about Jesus being forced down his throat, he doesn't really have a problem with Jesus, he's just really weirded out.
The Trump bait was supposedly added late in production based on Paramount firing Colbert, they signed a $1.5 billion deal with paramount two days before airing and they want to blow up the merger. They didn't like how skydance leadership was already pressuring them, and they don't like the idea of censorship in general... That all was a fuck you, I dare you to cancel us now that real money is on the line
Trump will definitely be a backdrop, but they've finally found something they want to say. And there's just not much to say about Trump...What, are you going to call him a pedo? Are you going to say he smells? Are you going to say he's cheating at golf while his handlers do an ethnic cleansing?
There's just no room for satire with Trump, and I don't think they can bait a reaction much harder than they did this episode
It would be nice if they hit Schumer and the rest of the useless, elderly democrats too. If there ever is another free and fair election, the democrats aren't going to win if they're represented by spineless, status quo reps who never want to try anything new, and insist on playing by the rules. So, a little humiliation would be good to encourage people to primary them.
I kind of hope so. Just grind his gears and chip away at his fragile fucking ego.
It really would be something. Just a fucking relentless onslaught of obscene caricature and vile innuendo, the occasional blatant reference to proven, or at least previously litigated facts that are more offensive than anything Matt and Trey could invent. They could fuck him up in the public eye, like waaaaaaay worse than this.
It'll pivot to Vance and Thiel once Trump is gone.
They'll introduce a new magical character, Mr Couchy.
You could be the first person to predict this and when it happens, I’ll tell people I was there.
Omg, Lemmy reply too so I'll be in the pic when someone screenshots my og comment as prophecy!
But yeah, unfortunately the famous DSC (Mrs Dirty Slutty Couch, a character with a southern accent, over the top sexed up, vary easy to s sit on) that was later featured in two movies won't come to prominence until late 20s (at the time making satire and social comment of the third coup of the year, this time prompted by Vance appointing a literal couch as 'head of congress', a bold move after already introducing to the media The First Couch that lives in the White House).
No, def not every imho (they never had long arcs & joke repetition was only in the early episodes iirc), they are doing however an arc & the new romantic couple will def be features more.
So 3 to 5 more episodes of this I would say? Tho they could conclude it all next episode too & later only have background references.
(The ez material is def there.)
I actually missed/expected a few more jokes (I had high hopes bcs this is the new Saddam - I've seen the image with Satan & I was hyped moments before watching the episode) & even more plot, but it seems they only generally set up the new situation & chars in the first episode.
Also it was fairly light (no directly dark stuff), that I thought was automatic with Trump.
