Am I the only one who thinks her design is kinda mid? Like they threw a bunch of elements together that, individually, say “cool anime character” but in their totality sum to something blah.

the statistically average anime waifu is a perfect mascot for the statistically-average-text generator

Literally Misa from Death Note.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago

Difference is Misa has more natural volume to her pigtails, and she doesn’t have that perpetually slightly embarrassed/cross and blushing thing the Grok Ani has. They took Misa but made her look more like a hentai chatbot.

Both are designed to look like obsessive and toxic partners.

Thats literally what happened. There was no thought process beside what hot anime wifu traits melon-musk is personally into (Seemingly mostly from death note.) catgirl-disgust

That seems like an awfully broad thing to hate?

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At least in some places, pigtails are very strongly coded as being "this is a child," so their use for waifus can come off as creepy.

Yeah, there are definitely some forms of pigtails or "twintails" that I think are very child coded and should be avoided when that would be inappropriate, but I'm just saying that there's really a very broad range of hairstyles which could all be described as pulling one's hair back into two tails on either side of one's head, and I just can't really imagine someone genuinely and universally hating every single one. For that matter it's only just inferred from context that we're talking about designs of "anime waifus" to begin with, even though that part wasn't actually specified. So I was thinking like, "Is he talking about real people, too? Is he also including child characters? Is this only about characters in an anime style?" etc.

She's just Rin Tohsaka but blonde.

[–] ChestRockwell@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not even, Rin has long sleeves. As others have noted it's misamisa

I'd more point to the fashion in general (gothic lolita) and colors to establish that it's Misa, and also the fact that she's a devoted slave while Rin is at least very theoretically supposed to be strong-willed.
