“Everyone feels like a fool and regrets the decision. I personally didn’t vote in the last election, and neither did my parents. At this point, I believe there are bad people on the left and the right,” Gardner said.

Jesus fucking Christ still a fucking centrist shitting on the "left" even as the State kidnapped your fucking husband.

Despite this, Free Ribvar Karimi and free all people kidnapped by ICE. He sucks but he doesn't deserve this—because no one deserves this!

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 10 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

No, he DOES deserves this for providing aid and comfort to a person so terrible they support Trump. Leopards, faces, and wow looks like this is posted in the spot on right place.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 11 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

can we settle on nobody deserves this, but given it’s happening he’s among the most deserving?

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 4 points 12 hours ago

I can live with that.

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

No, he DOES deserves this

No he doesn't because NO ONE deserves to be deported by ICE. We can quibble later about what constitutes justice for people who enable Trump supporters, and I'm not going to police your feelings about him or people like him...I know what community I'm posting in...but supporting his deportation is not productive for the people Mr. Karimi and his wife hurt with their rhetoric and complicity! Because then, all the government and media have to do to manufacture your consent for the deportations is smear the deportees' characters.

If you think he deserves social ostracisation or some other consequence then sure, fine, but deportation by the American Gestapo? Even if you think he deserves the worst, we don't deserve the consequences of yet another ICE deportation of one of our neighbors.

Everything the State does is imposed on us by the capitalist class. So even if you would support his neighbors running him out of town...this is completely different! This is an imposition on the community that he's no longer allowed to be a part of it. And while today it happened to a Trump supporter, it happens just as often to upstanding or even beloved people in the community. We shouldn't be tolerant of any interference of the capitalist class in our affairs, even when it hurts someone I personally don't like.

Mr. Karimi is a xenophobic ass hat who I'm certain would never fight for one of us, but he's still one of our neighbors.

Americans are the most brainwashed people on the planet. The right wing state can literally disappear your family and you still shit talk the left.

Reminder that Fox News was created in the wake of Watergate specifically because media coverage of the scandal went from non-existent to shifting public opinion against it in weeks. It was created to be a dedicated Republican party propaganda platform to prevent that from ever happening again.

[–] radix@lemmy.world 38 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nixon aides wanted a pro-administration network, and some of them were eventually instrumental in getting Fox News going, but it took over 20 years between Watergate and the launch of FNC.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Yeah, I think they mean Whitewater, the fake scandal fishing expedition that led to the Lewinsky thing..

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 1 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago) (1 children)

No they meant watergate, Roger Ailes, the founding CEO of Fox News, was Nixon’s media guy during watergate.

Yes, but he didn't create Faux News right after that. It launched in the 90s

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

It was created to be a dedicated Republican party propaganda platform

It worked too well.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I really wanna say you’re wrong and I really can’t. All I can ask is that you please not lump us all together into one homogeneous group. There are quite a few of us who are actually sane.

[–] Enoril@jlai.lu 22 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

We know that.

But that didn't stop ALL the german being called nazi after WWII and all being appalled by their (in)action and the pain their nation did to others.

I had a German colleague apologizing to me for his ancestors actions (who killed some family members at my grandparents generation). None of us were born when that happened but he wanted to say it as he was ashamed by his grandparents (in)actions. I was sad for him because he didn't do anything wrong but he was taking the weight of his nation history personally.

Do you want to do that or - more probably - do you want your children to do that later? They will ask for forgiveness to the descendants of the people impacted today saying: "I'm sorry that my parents didn't do anything to stop that"

Because your ICE gestapo-like state organization is doing appalling actions TODAY in plain sight. And you - as Americans - will be remembered as people who lets this happen.

Yep. That already happened. So we know.

[–] Cruxifux 2 points 14 hours ago

Extremely well put.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 3 points 16 hours ago

We know that. I’ve been apologizing constantly on Lemmy. I guess I was thinking more on an individual basis 🤷‍♂️.

Also, I’m very very sorry for all this.

[–] magikmw@piefed.social 5 points 23 hours ago

Don't worry, we don't have to. ICE wilk lump you all together.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip -1 points 23 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Cruxifux 1 points 14 hours ago

When you allow your state to become a rightwing nightmare that destroys lives of those within and outside of your country, don’t be surprised when you are remembered as the people who allowed this to happen.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 41 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Bitch, Obama didn't kidnap your husband. AOC didn't kidnap your husband. Bernie didn't kidnap your husband. Mamdani didn't kidnap your husband. Trump did.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 11 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

Bitch, Obama didn't kidnap your husband.

That's some revisionist nonsense.

https://www.migrationpolicy.org/article/obama-record-deportations-deporter-chief-or-not

Barack Obama was famously labeled “deporter in chief” by critics in the immigrant-rights community,

Back in the day would people have posted a link in here if an Obama supporting immgrants husband had been deported ?

[–] Coolbeanschilly@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Democrats are playing their part in this Third World farce, just as the Republicans are.

Please let it be noted for the record that I did not say that the Democrats were left leaning.

[–] PM_ME_VINTAGE_30S@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 23 hours ago

Please let it be noted for the record that I did not say that the Democrats were left leaning.

Yeah me too. Fuck the Dems.

[–] rhvg@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago (2 children)

No need to blame her on this. She doesn’t want to burn the bridge, what if someone can get him out.

She doesn’t want to burn the bridge, what if someone can get him out.

Yeah so she shouldn't be burning bridges with the left. Right? Because the right isn't gonna help her.

No need to blame her on this.

I didn't? The US government is 100% responsible for kidnapping her husband, and the capitalists are 1000% responsible for putting the US government on this trajectory. But I'm allowed to express my frustration at her rhetoric.

[–] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 13 points 1 day ago

I don't blame her I absolutely don't give a fuck about someone who couldn't bother to vote or her chump ass husband who literally voted for this to happen to other people.
