Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

actuary tables suggest trump doesn't make it to 2029.

honestly I'm far more afraid of the shady-ass VP who is the bagman for Peter Theil

[–] iknowitwheniseeit@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 23 hours ago

According to the actuarial table he can expect to live 8 more years.

actuary tables suggest trump doesn’t make it to 2029.

Actuary tables say Dick Cheney should have died ten years ago.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Do those account for the blood of children that he drinks?

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Reminder that Dick fucking Cheney is still alive and kickin'.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 6 points 1 day ago

To be fair they keep giving him new hearts to keep him alive.

He's only 6 years older than Trump. 2 years older than Biden

And only spent a brief period of time in the Bush administration not having a human heart beating in his chest!

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

But, now hear me out, about a barely-obese 52yo with a seeerious ketamine addiction?

The line of blood donor clinics I predict he opens in order to funnel the youngest blood into his own veins and ideally stave off ageing, even that's gonna do nothing about the impending kidney failure.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

Ket causes bladder inflammation, leading to infection and bleeding. Kidney problems, when they occur, are secondary to that.

And that's just factoring in the ketemine and obesity, now what happens when you include the rest of his drug cocktail? At least Hitler had the excuse of getting gassed on the trenches, Musk is just a druggie.

Not shaming folks who like drugs but let's be honest here Musk is filling his weak little ego with narcotics.

Trump can get away with what he does because of his cult, historically cults typically fall apart after the founder dies even when there's a planned line of succession

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 2 days ago

That's what I'm hoping

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Tell that to Trump's self contained severed living head in a glass container in 2070

[–] wampus@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

More realistically... AI Trump.

They could feed all of his bullshit into a model, and have an AI Trump spewing nonsense forever. Bet it'd even take AI golf trips.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

It wouldn't take many lines of code, or much of a lexicon, to replicate that repetitious blather.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

The hallucinations would be a feature.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

I think that's called reddit

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Never drank or smoked. Probably quite a rarity for that generation.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

There's a good chance he's lying about that, just like he lies about everything else.

[–] IcyToes@sh.itjust.works -3 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He is a vile PoS. Even when Biden announced cancer, Trump demonstrated more humanity than Vance did. Vance has no chill and no human decency.

[–] Envy@fedia.io 50 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Trump did no such thing. Trump's handlers took his phone and typed a message, Trump since has been nothing but disgusting and vile

[–] IcyToes@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Whatever, the point was even Vance couldn't do that. Started questioning Biden's health before.

I was not defending Trump, I was criticising how Vance limbo'd under Trump's response...

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee -1 points 1 day ago

The fuck he didn't.
