Canada pledges nearly $100M for Palestinians in Gaza, West Bank
Sorry I missed where it says the money is going to Hamas?
If you're implying their governments are actually democratically elected terrorist organizations, neither territory has held an election in over 15 years.
Glad that Canada is choosing to be on the right side of history with this move, and with its support for Ukraine.
They did elect them when Canada has already declared them a terrorist organization prior and let's not forget their kill all jew platform. They knew what they were getting. Also let's not pretend Hamas wasn't popular right up until they entered the find out phase.
So with the palastine un leg being outed as a being full of Hamas members and the country ran by a terrorist organization what hand are we going to give the cash to?
Hamas is a terrorist organization. Discussing their political platform is of little value. If we're reflecting on historical circumstances honestly, Israel and Western powers have played a major role in bringing them into existance.
Humanitarian aid for civilian victims of Israel's 'collective punishment' strategy is morally right.
Your attempts at conflating Hamas with all Palestinians is a meek attempt at justifying genocide.
If you're interested in bringing forth a good faith argument, I'm open to hearing it.
Until then I'm content with taking pride in my country for bringing aid to those in need. It's just one part of what makes Canada great.
My issue is simply this, how will you get the funds in the right place in such a corrupt environment? While the goal is good I fear the results will get tainted as the majority of aid unfortunately has been so far. I feel Palastine is not in a position to recieve donations with the current system in power.
BTW you can't ever claim 100% and that was never my intent. Hamas was poled as having majority support and even being more favourable then the more moderate pa. That's a fact. Does that mean they should be eliminated? No, of course not but let's not pretend they weren't and maybe aren't (?) liked now.
And the thing is we can't because if you have a different view people really don't like it and get really sad. Most of what Ive claimed is easily researchable but look how upset people get.
I don't think the onus is on Palestinian civilians who are survivors of war to answer to that. The onus is on those providing aid to ensure it's used for its intended purpose.
I've heard this argument many times before and question its intention. I wonder if Americans and other Westerners face a similar moral dillema everytime they pay taxes or engage in commerce with corporations that financially support morally questionable regimes or corporate practice. Somehow, I don't think that they do.
An election from 15 years ago does not disqualify those in suffering from aid today or in perpetuity. I'm glad that the government of Canada agrees with that.
You didn't even try to explain how our government will ensure it goes as intended. I wasn't asking palastine anything, I was asking how our government can ensure its funds are used as intended in such a corrupt environment. They can't just give it to Hamas because Hamas are terrorists. So how can it actually reach where it should at this point of time?
