The video by Forrest valaki discusses a large series of scientific concepts around gender, sexuality and sex. It has an entire scientific research team credited in the description and 377 references but of course transphobes don't care and would rather look like a fool throwing play ground insults around. This whole video and interaction made my day. Transphobes can be a very funny bunch.

the first version of the pitch overlay is now available on github. It works on Linux and is somewhat of a mess for Windows (it will be fixed in the coming days, read the documentation).

I’m comfortable being a woman with my lady parts. I also like to pretend. I told people I was male (transmasc, specifically) so that I could freely experience attraction to just men without having the “straight” label.

Whatever I was, I did NOT want to be straight, so presenting as a trans guy helped me feel better about myself. I could be a gay man. Then, I was a non-binary demiboy (either gay or bi but would only date men).

I felt like a girl in real life. I still do. I didn’t feel dysphoria nor a desire to transition in any way, neither socially nor physically nor anything. It just felt relieving to be a gay trans guy, but that still made me trans even though I didn’t identify as male nor did I ever see myself as male, right?

(I see myself as a woman and always have, I don’t have dysphoria. I identify as a woman who wants a penis. I think I’m moreso attracted to the idea of having male parts than actually seeing myself as a guy, but like I said, it relieved me to be gay and not straight.)

long story short, I’m a woman slightly attracted to the idea of herself being a trans guy or having a penis.

I bit ago I made a post detailing the Egg prime directive in Egg irl. To be clear that was a policy post but it also helped outline the concept in a way that many people don't do. Most descriptions of the Egg prime directive are either incomplete or, purposefully uncharitable. So it's good to clarify it.

This is a different kind of post, unlike that one it's not a policy post in regards to community enforcement, it's more meant to address the issue in a general sense.

Today I'm going to talk about why the Egg Prime Directive is important, and also more importantly, why people disagreeing with it or not following it isn't acceptable.

First why does it matter? Well I discussed it heavily in my other post but the gist of it is that it is important to respect the way a person identifies themselves, the pronouns they use, the label they call themselves. Regardless of how they look or present themselves. It seems like a pretty fundamental concept that there shouldn't be any issue with, yet somehow many people seem to have an issue with it and don't do it. When a person's identity isn't respected it can be deeply hurtful and is ultimately deeply disrespectful to them.

Why 'disagreement' with the egg is problematic at best? Well the thing is, because the Egg Prime Directive is solely about respecting the way a person identifies themselves and their autonomy to identify themselves in a way that they see fit, to argue against it is to argue against people's validity to self-identification. It's not much different from arguing against certain aspects of trans rights. Ultimately many instances where people break the Egg Prime Directive are targeting individuals who are Gender-Nonconforming or even NonBinary.

Some people argue that they should be able to break it to fight cisnormativity. However this is a very poor justification to try and make it seem okay to violate someone else's gender identification and ultimately isn't being done for their benefit, it is going against their right to identify as any gender or use any label they feel like. To be clear, they have that right, all the time. The idea that someone doesn't have the right to identify as their preferred gender or label in certain circumstances is downright dystopian.

Bottom line, there is no such thing as respectful disagreement with this concept, going against the Egg Prime Directive is solely an act of going against another person's identification. It isn't respectful to them as a person. It's very similar to "respectful transmedicalism" or "respectful transphobia" in this regard. It is a harmful behavior made out as if it's respectful or good.

Oh and By the way. Before someone tries to argue that Egging is "politely explaining what trans means to someone" this subject has been covered in the last post and respectful support and education is NOT Egging, and is freely allowed by the Egg prime directive, if not explicitly encouraged, trying to argue as if it somehow isn't is disingenuous, and frankly seems extremely uncharitable.

Hello girlies and other folk,

my boyfriend is programming a desktop app that displays your current voice input's frequency in Hz over time with a real time graph, similar to the app "voice tools" many of us use for voice training.

I'm trying to garner interest for such a desktop app and would appreciate input about it so I can show him that it's not something only I would want.

I would also be interested in the OS you would be using, since currently it's only on Linux (as we use arch btw).

The image shows what it's currently looking like and the settings window. The entire point is for it to be always on top of everything else so you can always see how you're doing.

And for the other nerds: it's written in Python (making it quite large, about 2GB, he's trying to port it to Rust (based) and make it smaller)

I realized I don't really care how people refer to me, it feels a bit weird if it's not a he/she/they, I feel the same way for all of them like they can refer to me, does that mean I fall under the gender spectrum? or imply it? what other things could lead to me finding a label that describes me if I fall under the spectrum. I mean, I am still thinking about it, and I might be or might not be, but i am kind of lost so I just want to mainly focus on the fact I am comfertable with any pronouns to give me some basic understanding. So id like to hear your thoughts on using any/all pronouns and transness.

Title

Idk if that dogshit executive order applies to birth certificates or if it's just passports and other federal identity documents. As far as I'm aware birth certificates are managed by the state and I live in a blue state (Minnesota), so I'm thinking maybe I could but idk.

I'm planning on using my passport that I got a few months ago as one of my supporting documents but I'm worried that it might get confiscated. (My passport has an F on it, my birth certificate currently has an M on it)

According to the Colorado Name Change Project, the US State Department has stopped processing of all gender marker correction applications. This is confirmed by Notus.org, which adds that the policy change affects passport renewals as well.

At this time, there are rumors that the Minnesota Passport Agency is confiscating documents when denying a gender marker change. These rumors are unconfirmed as of the time of this post, but the situation is still developing.

Update: Marco Rubio has confirmed that the state department has suspended all applications including a gender change or an X gender marker, including applications which were already in progress. Update 2: tiktok user @gentlereality has confirmed that her passport application was suspended pending "administrative guidance" on Jan 30, and her original documents (birth certificate, etc) withheld "indefinitely". The application went through (with "M" gender markers) and the original documentation was returned Feb 3. From this I can conclude that the rumors of documentation being confiscated were at least partially true -- the difference between confiscation and withholding depends entirely on how long "indefinitely" actually lasts.

Good feels rant post.

I had pretty much given up on romance as dating is nearly impossible as an older transguy. I managed to meet a nice geeky guy on a dating site and we chatted for a while. On our first date last night, he handed me a wrapped gift. "I saw this book and thought you'd like it." and it was a book in my favorite genre. "And I got a toy for your dog. I put it in my laundry for a day so he can get used to my scent before I meet him." Bros and sisters, my heart melted.

We ended up having a ridiculous fun time then making out in the snow, and it was super cheesy and cute and romantic.

Don't give up on love! Good folks are still out there. ❤️ Figured I'd share some positivity since the Earth is literally burning.

Maybe this is really silly or useless, but I was having another one of those moments looking in the mirror, analyzing my face and unable to see myself, but I discovered if I blur my vision slightly and let my field of vision become a bit more "big picture", my brain correctly genders me. Maybe this is true for others?

Sometimes I recognize how arbitrary my perception of gender is (with myself and others), and maybe it's just pragmatic to mess with your own perception when feeling down about how you look and not being able to see yourself.

I feel a bit insecure sharing this, it feels like an anti-tip to me, like saying, "are you feeling ugly? close your eyes!" - but I only share it because I actually did feel some happiness from it and it interrupted a moment of dysphoric obsessing. Can't be that bad to have a coping mechanism to do that, right?
