You don't have a standard image from your IT dept?
crappy flimsy metal case is warped out of the box
What model? Is it their enterprise line, or are you using the cheap consumer line?

Yeah, I really don't understand why transfer is so expensive here in the US. The same base tier service provides 1TB transfer in the US and 20TB in the EU. I don't need 20TB, but it would be nice to have 3-5TB in case I need to restore a backup or something.

It looks like they don't go very low end, so if you're wanting that, Hetzner is probably a better pick.
I'm playing Hogwarts Legacy and needed to tune one system setting to fix occasional crashes. That's it, and that's the most trouble I've had in a few years.
Even AAA games are fine, as long as they don't have intrusive anticheat. If you're after SP, non-VR gaming, Linux is ready today. If you want VR, you need to be more flexible with headsets. If you want MP, you need to be really flexible since devs intentionally block Linux for whatever reason.
Nice!
My area seems to be $1k+ for lightly used HT, and a decent full squish is like $2k. I'm in an area where MTB is super popular (Utah), so there are a lot of enthusiasts that know what bikes are worth. It's especially bad for me since I'm tall and need a less standard size.
I have seen a few good deals here and there though. I got my kid a decent Trek with front suspension for $250-ish, and I'm going to shop around for some upgrades (kids keep growing). But $500 is what I expect to spend for a decent bike, anything less for a decent bike is a steal.
I have an 11 speed chain with 3000+ miles and it’s only showing around 1% stretch.
Wow, that's a solid chain. I usually need to replace mine around 2000-3000, but my chains are like $20-30, and I don't treat them very well (I stay on high gears on short climbs a bit too long).
I haven't bothered with wax, maybe I should. I just do a decent job lubing everything a few times per year. I degrease (chain only, I'm careful around the derailleur and hub), rinse thoroughly, dry thoroughly, and then lube and wipe 2x. I don't get any squeaks and it rides smoother after a cleaning, so I think I'm doing a decent job.
But I've heard wax is more of a one and done thing. Maybe I'll try it the next time I replace my chain.
Really? Something like 10 years ago, I worked in IT w/ an HP contract, and people seemed to like the Elitebook line. Everything else was pretty awful though.
Shouldn’t monetary concerns always take a backseat to the well-being of people?
That depends on your definition of "well-being," as well as the severity of the financial risk. There's a wide range between "literally risking your life" and "a little discomfort/inconvenience," just as there is between someone mortgaging their house (risking financial ruin) and some VC tech bro risking other rich people's money.
Any policy we come up with needs to be sensitive to those extremes. But in general, an individual's ability to make decisions should be roughly proportional to the risk they're taking.
many workers find themselves dependent on their employer for health insurance to afford healthcare
Yeah, that's ridiculous, but it has nothing to do with employees having a vote. Ideally, benefits like health care should be completely separate from employment. Switching jobs shouldn't change your coverage... Likewise, you shouldn't be screwed on retirement savings just because your employer picked a bad plan.
Yeah, I did have a to transcode a bluray rip, but I think that might be a network limitation rather than a processing one. 1080p transcode worked fine, so it's not resolution.
One of these days I'll DIY a HTPC, but for now, the Jellyfin app works acceptably well.
Same. The only issue I've had is it not finding my TV shows, but once I figured out how it wants them stored, no issues whatsoever.
What they need is emotional intimacy, but they can't get that because of crippling anxiety. You're not going to get emotional intimacy from a robot, and if you try, you run the very real risk of really adverse effects, like this or this.
That's why I suggested separating concerns. Keep the bot physical, and encourage real personal relationships in a low risk environment. There's always a chance a personal relationship develops into something more, whereas there's a lot of risk expecting a bot to fill that gap.
