It's two syllables, but Matt is correct about the first k NOT being silent, though. His wiki article has the pronunciation with an audio clip.

I'm not sure what your math questions are, but they might be answerable by WolframAlpha. it will sometimes even give you how a solution is worked out (if you pay, it will always do that).
