Very sad to hear but totally understandable. Unfortunately, this will make the centralization of lemmy world even worse.

How much effort is it actually to host a small instance? I am thinking about hosting one mostly for my self. Mainly because I am interested in the technology. Also my country doesn't have one so that could be a topic too if there is some interest. But hearing this I am not so sure anymore. I can't put many hours into it each week just to keep it running.

I can see your points. But it is still the stupidest tactic to stay away from the election. If one candidate is even 1% better than the other, vote for that one. People like you are the reason why the right-wingers always win. They go out and vote. Now the others have decided for you and you've got what you deserve.

My company is making exactly the same mistake right now. I simply can't understand how a European company can still make itself so dependent on Microsoft at this point. We Devs have raised the issue to our bosses, but there are still a lot of old MS fanboys around. Some people have to learn it the hard way.

the performance is awfull. it updates all the time and after each update something breaks or some design change is made.
