Ohhh interesting. Would have been nice if that person shared the solution the admin found. Maybe the pixelfed discord has some clues. I’ll take a look this evening 🙏

I wonder if pixelfed.social is running on a different commit, because it’s able to pull those hashtags on the home feed.

There was another user that mentioned they have the same issue on pixelfed.ca:

Thank you 🙏 if you need help with posts to test with, I can post some stuff too 🫡

That makes sense... but I am not sure that's what is happening with my case... maybe I'm wrong.

I followed the hashtag before the new post were made with the hashtag. Do I need to follow the account that posted it too? It's odd cause the account that posted with the hashtag, is an @pixelfed.ca account. So I would have thought that post definitely should show up on my home feed.

Order of operations:

  1. I searched for #Vancouver, there was one post with that tag found.
  2. I follow the hashtag. Nothing on my home feed still (expected).
  3. After a few hours (or a day) my home feed still doesn't show anything with #Vancouver, so I searched the hashtag again, this time, there's two posts in the search results. Neither show up on my home feed.
  4. I open the post to the new #vancouver post, and notice it's from an account on @pixelfed.ca too. Shouldn't this post show up on my home feed at least?

Hopefully that is a bit more clear.

Yeah mines been like that for a day also. I had the same experience with importing on pixelfed.social. It took a few days. Maybe there’s a big queue.

I'm following #Vancouver hash tags and I don't see anything showing up on my Home feed; there's been new posts since following the hashtag though. Those new posts with the hashtag should be showing up on my Home feed right? I know they do on pixelfed.social.

I see a post on my pixelfed.social home feed for an account @pixelfed.ca that has #Vancouver in the post.. but on my pixelfed.ca home feed, I'm not seeing that post. I can search for it though? Is there some kind of home feed setting I'm missing?

Does anyone else have a similar experience with following hash tags that aren’t showing on the home feed?

Ah interesting! That must have been it! I see the import function now 🙏 thank you!!

I see this when I go to https://pixelfed.ca/settings/import

The help centre page says it's only enabled for admins: https://pixelfed.ca/site/kb/import

Gah. Time to search and load all the profiles 🥲👀

Ah okay. So it's just a matter of.. the more people use this instance, the more things are cached. Gotcha! Thanks for that explanation 🙏

Will the import feature be enabled at some point? I want to migrate my photos over, would be good to use the import function for that 🙏

There is some weird issue with federation on pixelfed... you can't search up hashtags either. I am not sure how the caching in federation works, but it seems like you have to wait for pixelfed.ca to "encounter" the post somehow first before you can search for/view them.

EDIT: There's definitely something about the way pixelfed.ca is configured. Or maybe pixelfed.social is configured in specific way (latest commits in the repo?). On pixelfed.social, you can view mastodon accounts (and all their photos) and hashtags. But on pixelfed.ca (and another server I've tried before), I can see the account, but none of the posts.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm noticing on the latest beta, that some posts (haven't found a pattern) will open to a completely unrelated post.

Actually... usually it's related to !TenForward@lemmy.world, I'm not sure why (I could be wrong too). It's something I've noticed maybe 5-6 times in the last couple of weeks?

I've linked to a screen recording, hopefully it's obvious to you @CreatureSurvive@lemmy.world

Latest share action to Open Lemmy links in Arctic is super handy! Thank you @creaturesurvive@lemmy.world !

I notice that “Open In Arctic” has “in” capitalized, but every other share action on iOS seems to be sentence case. Any way you can make the new Arctic action match the other share actions? 🙏

The latest icon in TestFlight is gorgeous! I am loving the ~~mountain~~ iceberg 😍 is there anyway we can get a few variations though? I would love to get that mountain on a orange or reddish background if that’s simple to do 🙏

I'm trying to use ProtonVPN to set up split tunneling so that my tun0 is the only network device that is protected by ProtonVPN. I need this because I have file & web servers running on this Linux box (Ubuntu).

With previous VPNs I've used, I would use OpenVPN and add to the openvpn config and this work the way I intended:

route-nopull
route 10.0.0.0 255.0.0.0

With other VPNs I'd just run

curl --interface tun0 ip.me

And that would return a VPN ip address.

For some reason, ProtonVPN seems to be blocking me from using the same workflow. Is there a working guide for ProtonVPN to do what I'm trying to do?

Is there anyway to display the name and instance of the OP for a post in the Home feed? I see the name displayed for Community feeds.

The biggest feature I notice missing in almost all Lemmy apps, is jumping to the top on the first tap of the tab icon of the view you’re in.

E.g. you’ve scrolled down a bit while in the Posts tab, then you tap the Posts icon, in Apollo, it would jump to the top of the list view in Posts, then second tap would take you to the communities subscribed slideout view.

Avelon does the second function but not the first. Would love to see this added as it’s a great quality of life feature IMO.

Wow. This app is so damned polished already!
