Mr Torvald, I don’t feel so well.

Basically Linux mint or bazzite is the system and how it’s organized while plasma is how I’m seeing that system represented and interacting with it in other words?

Yup, seems like you got the gist of it!

Obviously once you start reading documents on software you’ll start to understand it all better. Suggest reading into the Docker engine for self-hosting software on your network!

how does plasma and Debian fit in cus that stuff is ringing a bell.

Distributions like Ubuntu, Kali Linux, Linux Mint are actually based off of Debian however, each distribution provides their own packages and typically have system files in different places, so packages made for Ubuntu may or may not work with Debian and vice-versa.

Edit; I should’ve mentioned you can choose to go headless without a GUI and only run the shell which saves a lot of resources.

Like plasma being separate than a distro

KDE Plasma is a Desktop Environment (aka your desktop). When you install a Linux distro on your computer you’ll typically be given an option on which software you want to pre install. You’ll see software like GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce, Cinnamon, etc and by doing a little research into them you can pick the environment that suites you best.

GNOME gave me MacOS vibes while KDE is more Windows.

Hope this explains things easily!

I personally started out with Debian given that a vast majority of distributions are Debian based, typically paired with KDE Plasma 5 for my desktop environment, and learned from there.

Now Debian is really stable but does require command-line configuration quite often so it may feel complicated but if you’re capable of reading & following documentation then you should be all good.

Currently in the process of fixing up my old Asus TUF FX505DU with Debian & KDE Plasma.

Setting up Nvidia Optimus would be a pain if it weren’t for Envy Control, run one command and boom GPU’s speak nicely to one another.

So recently I just come across Earlyoom and it has completely resolved my desktop crashing and better handles my memory, I was wondering if there is any other software that I’m missing that could potentially improve my systems resource handling?

Distro = Debian 12, KDE Plasma 5

That’s just how you unlock the hidden boss fight.

Do they enact a new law every time a new gun model comes out?

In fact it’s the opposite! A new law comes out banning a specific selection of firearms and manufacturers just make new ones under different model names.

Quite sure the Adler Arms RF-224 TAC 22Lr was made specifically with the ban in mind.

Still, the whole thing with "list of forbidden guns" sounds, if nothing else, tedious.

Welp, you essentially just expressed how most Canadian PAL/RPAL holders feel.

Ubisoft cannot be forgiven on how much time they wasted remastering all the original maps. That’s when I called it quits.

I had a poor experience with NPM which turned me to SWAG, it worked, but was a tad slow. Moved to Traefik and haven’t looked back.

Ah I understand, it’s really not hard to keep up with the law here! Once you complete your CFSC (Canadian Firearm Safety Course) you can apply for your PAL/RPAL ((Restrcited) Possesion & Acquisition License) from the RCMP, after a couple months of background checks you’ll receive your license in the mail.

Most firearms owners will opt to buy a safe first and then hit the gun-stores where they’ll have all the knowledge you need in regards to our laws.

Unfortunately on December 5th 2024 the Government of Canada listed a whole range of firearms makes & models to be reclassified as prohibited (ie: banned) while also granting amnesty for current owners in violation until October 30th 2025. given that they named the makes & models themselves means there is no modification that’ll let us take them out again.

Most firearms owners I know are waiting for a change in government before turning them over, which is fair, we’ve all gone through the proper procedures to obtain & possess these firearms and to legally take them to the range/gun-club, IPSC or gunsmiths.

Here is how Canada classifies firearms.

Please post all your Gun Politics or Ban-related ideas, initiatives, comments, suggestions, news articles, and recommendations in this thread.

First and foremost, this is a Canadian Gun community, so keep it at least decently related to both of those things. Just because an election is coming up, doesnt make any and all canadian politics fair game. While these threads are typically looser about off-topic posting, there is no need for personal attacks and flamewars.

Credible sources providing new information will of course be fine to post regularily, but as time passes we may start sending new post talking about old news here. To prevent the main community being flooded with dozens of similar threads, text posts complaining about/asking about/chatting about the OIC will also likely be sent here.

This normally runs every month, but we will try having it repost a new thread every 14 days for now.
