Some insight here -

Mossberg 590A1:

20” Heavy-Barrel (8+1 2-3/4”)
Magpul Stock & Forend
Side saddle (cannot see here) and sling
Kept the factory bead-sight didn’t feel right putting an optic on it

Kriss Vector CRB 22Lr:

16” Threaded Barrel
10rds Magazines
Optic was a gift can’t remember exactly but I believe it’s a Holosun HS503R
Magpul M-Lok Foregrip/Hand-Stop

Does the the Vector only need a fin grip attached and a limited capacity magazine to be unbanned since it's an LBR? I'm out of date when it comes to CA, so I'm happy to learn the new nuances.

Unfortunately on December 5th 2024 the Government of Canada listed a whole range of firearms makes & models to be reclassified as prohibited (ie: banned) while also granting amnesty for current owners in violation until October 30th 2025. given that they named the makes & models themselves means there is no modification that’ll let us take them out again.

Most firearms owners I know are waiting for a change in government before turning them over, which is fair, we’ve all gone through the proper procedures to obtain & possess these firearms and to legally take them to the range/gun-club, IPSC or gunsmiths.

Here is how Canada classifies firearms.

Thank you so much! I wrongly assumed these were California regulations. Honestly, Canada regulations seem even more wild in comparison considering the rules surrounding an 18.5" barrel threshold, restriction based simply on a named make or model, and then if the firearm was factory-built or not. Almost as if a lawyer consultation is needed before making a purchase.

Ah I understand, it’s really not hard to keep up with the law here! Once you complete your CFSC (Canadian Firearm Safety Course) you can apply for your PAL/RPAL ((Restrcited) Possesion & Acquisition License) from the RCMP, after a couple months of background checks you’ll receive your license in the mail.

Most firearms owners will opt to buy a safe first and then hit the gun-stores where they’ll have all the knowledge you need in regards to our laws.

Still, the whole thing with "list of forbidden guns" sounds, if nothing else, tedious. Do they enact a new law every time a new gun model comes out?

In fact it’s the opposite! A new law comes out banning a specific selection of firearms and manufacturers just make new ones under different model names.

Quite sure the Adler Arms RF-224 TAC 22Lr was made specifically with the ban in mind.

Still, the whole thing with "list of forbidden guns" sounds, if nothing else, tedious.

Welp, you essentially just expressed how most Canadian PAL/RPAL holders feel.
