Apple warns Australia against following the EU in mandating iOS app sideloading, citing security risks. Australia is considering forcing Apple to open its App Store to sideloading as part of competition reforms.

Yes the built in browser sandboxes the website code, but the nodejs part has full freedom to encrypt your stuff and ask for bitcoin ransoms or ai scrape your browser history for better user profiling. YMMV

Sandboxing proprietary apps and containerising their outdated dependencies is a good thing.

lemm.ee stopped er mee, hun team werd te klein vanwege burn-out.

Effe een post aan ons eigen admins, how gaat het hier? Hebben jullie hulp nodig?

https://lemm.ee/post/65824884

The key reason is that we just don’t have enough people on the admin team to keep the place running. Most of the admin team has stepped down, mostly due to burnout, and finding replacements hasn’t worked out.

The sad reality is that while there are a lot of great people on Lemmy, there are also some who use the platform to attack others, stir up conflict, or actively try to undermine the project. Admins are volunteers who deal with the latter group on a constant basis, this takes a mental toll. Please understand why our admins chose to step down, and be kind to the admins on whatever instance you decide to join.

I’m looking for a lemmy app with doomscrolling guardrails:

  • maximum posts on a newsfeed
  • refresh disabled

This bill will help those who have invested in the Republican Party

Obama care was less interesting for Democratic investors until it was neutered

Most countries are under corporate rule: democratic & monocratic

That last part sounds overdone:

And it's unclear whether the type of sophisticated malware that routinely infects consumer and enterprise Windows users will be able to decrypt encrypted database contents.

Thanks to W11 requirements for a tpm chip, I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume it uses the same method as Passkeys use.

Thanks to the economy tanking ( mass civil unrest -> crop uncertainty -> climate change ), voting is about fixing the economy

Climate Change is not an attractive talking point

Carbon removal activities will have to meet four overarching criteria in order to be certified:

  • they must bring about a quantifiednet carbon removal benefit or net soil emission reduction benefit
  • they must be additional, meaning that they go beyond statutory requirements at the level of an individual operator and they need the incentive effect of the certification to become financially viable
  • they must aim to ensure long-term storage of carbon while minimising the risk of carbon release
  • they should do no significant harm to the environment and should be able to result in co-benefits to one or more sustainability goals

Serves me right for communicating in a lemmygrad conversation.

I’ve blocked the instance now but I’d appreciate an admin to clear out my inbox so that I don’t have to look at the abuse each time I open my inbox.

Has there been discussions in feddit.nl to de-federate with instances like lemmygrad and hexbear?

I’m considering getting a silicone cover for the steamdeck I’ve just ordered.

I was wondering how snug the fit is with the official carrying case. Would I need to remove the Yono silicone cover to carry it in the steam carry case?

I received the Steamdeck and tried it on, it fits in the case with the sleeve ✅

Thanks for your feedback 🙏
