What is airflow? I was considering to use spider.

Gotcha! Totally something to work on for the future.

The first one I feel is a legitimate issue that I should brainstorm. But is tricky to compute.

The rest seem to be something moderation may help with. But not directly solvable.

The idea revolves around web-rings, but I feel like you're implying something different?

What platforms do you have in mind?

What will abuse look like in your mind?

Do check my original blog, it explains somewhat the issue of YaCy.

Linux reviews also has a good article on it. https://linuxreviews.org/YaCy

I am not uneducated in this matter, I run Matrix instances and have dabbled in development of tools around it.

Perhaps our experience is different, but I have had great difficulty in helping groups on the ground to use Matrix.

Regardless of our agreement that Matrix is better than Signal, it should not cloud our judgement in at least reducing the harm that is Telegram.

In the future we can keep joining hands to work towards a better future, but for now I hope you can understand my perspective and choice.

Thank you for your post!

I want you to know your effort and knowledge is appreciated, this will help future readers make better decisions.✨

But the situation stands that my friend and their friends are not as technologically literate as we are, and I would rather have them on something easy and secured than unsecured at all, especially from my experience with getting communities to use such decentralized platforms you mentioned.

I have two passports, Pakistan and USA.

But for for future knowledge, which countries are allowed and which are disallowed, or the circumstances for each.

For any federal agents, these questions are not indicative of any association or intention but rather for knowledge sake.

I fear I will soon loss my job soon because of the current USA political environment (fascism).

I've been planning for years to earn enough money to escape.

I am going straight to China if I can earn enough.

Urban environment, Great civil infrastructure, and I'd be able to spend the rest of my life as a professor and do research.

Given all states including and north of New York & New Jersey would split off from the USA and form the "North East Union".

Would they be able to hold their own against and without the rest of the USA?

I have a "Dell Inc. Latitude 5290 2-in-1", and it comes with a stereo microphone array that, by default, has a gain that is way too extreme.

A value of 100% is screeching / over-blasted to any listener, while a value of 25% is most reasonable.

Thus, I wanted to limit the gain of the microphones through PipeWire.

I created the following WirePlumber configuration file.

# For "Dell Inc. Latitude 5290 2-in-1"
# The analog input array is way too loud

monitor.alsa.rules = [
  {
    matches = [
      # This matches the value of the 'node.name' property of the node.
      {
       	node.name = "alsa_input.pci-0000_00_1f.3.analog-stereo"
      }
    ]
    actions = {
      update-props = {
        node.description        = "Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 Stereo Microphone"
        channelmix.min-volume   = 0.0
        channelmix.max-volume   = 0.25
        channelmix.normalize    = true
      }
    }
  }
]

I know this is applying to the correct node, because executing wpctl status shows that the node description has been properly changed.

The problem is that the "channelmix.max-volume" is not applied as I expect it to be. I expect it to make it so that 25% max volume is the new 100%, Instead it seems to do nothing.

What am I doing wrong, and how can I achieve what I want?

Edit 1: Channel Mix is working, but it seems the "Volume" as of wpctl get-volume is referring to gain. Essentially Channel Mix is making it quieter, but the gain because of "Volume" is nonsensical.

Edit 2: RedHat developer says there isn't support for thatcurrently :( https://fosstodon.org/@wtay/113532113977083665

Edit 3: EasyEffects is not the solution here, This is a lower level issue, not something done via an affect to the audio stream. EasyEffects cannot "undo" gain changes.

I have cotton socks, and they are really ruff to wear, and I stopped wearing them when I started to suspect that they were causing chaffing on parts of my feet.

Are there ways to make them softer, are my socks bad, do I only have the choice of polyester socks???

Let's keep things simple two rules.

  • No giving sentience, This is a no brainer issue.
  • Let's keep it to beings under the Animilia kingdom. "mutated virus/bacteria" is a common trope.

To start:

Let's modify ants to have lungs.

Most insects are constrained by the amount of oxygen they can acquire through their exoskeleton.

Imagine how big they can get if they didn't have that constraint?

DO NOT READ IF SENSITIVE TOWARDS ANY MYTHOLOGY. People may speak of eating your favorite beings, please be prepared for such.

To start off, While I am a pescatarian, I think biblical angels would be delicious fried / grilled, specifically the ones who aren't high enough to be abstract shapes, as I do not think I can stomach a wheel.

I'll start off with one, Being upset about a breakup that happened hundreds of years ago.

Edit 1:

  • Heath death of the universe, Death of the sun, etc, does not count. I feel like focusing on this is an overused point.

Edit 2:

  • Loneliness does not count. I feel like we all know immortality means you'll miss people and lose them.

I recently blocked X instance, as I didn't like the users and content from there.

But to my surprise, X instance was still able to send me a comment?

Is this a bug? What can I do?

I don't want to go grill it outside because it is cloudy today.

And boiling it makes it kinda flobby.

Has anyone grilled a hotdog in a bread toaster before? any hints?

Edit 1:

Pan fried following this advice!

I had a delicious meal!!!

Thank you @tokookah@discuss.tchncs.de!

The hotdog fits in my frying pan! Hot dog in tiny frying pan

Completed dog

Mayonnaise on English bread, Lettuce ontop, dog on lettuce, Ketchup, Mustard, delicious!

A continuation of my previous post "I have 100 chokers, What is the best way to store them?".

Now that I know how to store them, via a giraffe plushie (thank you @ALostInquirer@lemm.ee!), I need to figure out how to wash them.

Washing them all would take far too long, but I can't simply add them into a delicates bag and toss them into the washing machine because I fear the cheap metal hooks will fall apart / corrode.

How should I was them all?

Sample Choker: Sample Choker

I have a hundred chokers for my fashion, and I cycle them every single day.

Currently, They are all stored in their original plastic sleeves.

This means my routine is as follows.

  • Pick up pile of sleeves
  • Select a choker by shuffling through the sleeves like they are cards.
  • unpack choker
  • place choker on for the day
  • remove choker
  • put choker back in sleeve
  • place sleeve back in pile

I find the task of sleeve management to be frustrating. And would rather have them all organized in such a way so that I may be able to view them, and choose them out as warranted.

What do you say is the best way to store them? (Product, Idea to make, anything)

Edit 1: A limitations I have is that I cannot install anything permanently to the apartment. 😖

Recently I started experimenting with Owncloud Infinite Scale to see how it compares to Nextcloud (which is ostensibly slow).

OCIS is super fast! But, it feels very lackluster. For example, their android app does not support custom directory uploads. Their Linux desktop application is very bare-bones, and does not look good on GNOME.

I personally would love some plugins, but I cannot find anything on the internet about any being developed for OCIS, even though from what it seems it should be immeasurably better than developing a nextcloud plugin.

Does anyone know of any good OCIS Plugins, or is the community effort pretty much non-existent?

Like, Investment businesses in the USA exist, but what if I want to make sure all my eggs aren't in one basket?
