I figured that was happening, which is why I updated the title to explicitly state it's a Critical Mass event

This was a Critical Mass event, which is why the bicyclists are taking up all of the street as a way to reclaim the streets and protest the lack of safety for riders under usual conditions. It's not legal, but protests are never useful if they're fully legal now, are they.

I'm with you on immediate abolition of police and dismantling the carceral system, but "figure something else out" sounds very hand-wave-y. Community initiatives, economic reform, and vastly improved and accessible mental health resources will go a long way towards drastically reducing crime, maybe even eliminating many forms of it, but there does need to be some form of framework for investigation and redressal of the rare crimes that do occur

As it turns out, avoiding the cops -- or even looking like you're avoiding the cops -- will also land you in hot water

That's because, and all together now...

All Cops Are Bastards

Mine hit me with the “We're spending all this money on you now so you can’t grow up and say we didn’t spend money on you when your were a kid.”

...the post is intended to portray the difference in trains -- the logical, excellent, and much preferable alternative to cars. They're excellent everywhere else but absolute shite in the supposed pinnacle of the free market.

In an anti car community. Considering the US proudly proclaims itself the champion of the free market, yeah, it's only fitting to use Amtrak as the example.
