on one hand i think the rules are in favor of the users privacy but on the other hand if someone caught torrenting they get fined, so it's confusing if a user's activity are private or not.

At my coreelec i am connected to vpn, i can confirm that the ip is correct but i see the 1.1.1.1 dns that i have set at connections settings. If i set it to auto is displaying the router ip so it is using the isp dns.

What can i do to work with mullvad dns only?

Hey I recently made the decision to buy mullvad since my isp got on my ass about pirating and I binded it once I start downloading does it automatically choose the best servers for me or is there a way to choose what server I want mullvad to use?

I'm having an issue with Mullvad disconnecting for a few seconds then connecting again randomly throughout the day sometimes, several times an hour.

I've tried using my internet without the VPN on and get no drops so it's definitely VPN related. I've also tried reinstalling the program, which didn't help.

One theory was another app could be interfering with Mullvad. I keep Malwarebytes open but have checked the settings on there for any clashes and don't see a problem. Same with AdGuard.

On the Mullvad settings I have DAITA off, Multihop off, Enable IPv6 off, Tunnel Protocol Auto, Custom DNS server off, split tunnelling off and have the latest version installed.

Anyone who's had similar issues or can advise on a solution, would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to use AdGuard DNS along with Mullvad VPN on iPhone at the same time? I have tried setting it up, and I understand why it's asking to set up the DNS as a VPN but it won't allow me to use both but just one at a time.

I want to port forward Plex and Minecraft on my Mac mini, but this isn't possible when I enable Mullvad. I tried using the VPN blacklist feature (split tunneling) on Plex and Minecraft, but it did not work.

I only want to use certain programs, such as iTerm and qBittorrent, behind a VPN. How do I whitelist these apps, so that I can port forward properly while running Mullvad on just those apps?

My speeds are dropping to about 30mbps on the regular lately. Not my connection, speeds with PIA are normal and recently have been playing around with my own VPS server and those are fine too. I checked w 2 friends and they noticed slow speeds tonight as well.

Is this where we are at with Mullvad now? How’s everyone else’s connection this Friday evening?

I've tried emailing them a few times the past several days but have yet to receive any response from the support staff. Anyone in the same boat?

VPN services like Mullvad, Proton, and similar providers often claim not to log any user data. However, recent developments, such as Apple removing Advanced Data Protection (ADP) for iCloud in the U.K. due to government pressure to create a backdoor for encrypted data, raise important concerns. This leads to a critical question: If the U.K. government were to demand user data from a VPN like Mullvad, and Mullvad responded by stating they don’t store any data (which is true), wouldn’t the U.K. then force them to either shut down their servers in the country or start logging user data? It seems contradictory for such VPN services to continue operating servers in countries with strict data retention laws.

Additionally, many countries prohibit torrenting, yet VPNs still provide users with the ability to torrent through their servers. If these activities are non-compliant with local laws, why don’t such countries simply shut down these servers?

Is there something I’m missing here?

Using Mullvad to get around my work DNS filters, 25.4 and Linux Mint.

I was using a localhosted python driven website (a gradio instance) and noticed it was extremely laggy. Then the program's console started complaining of lost HTTP sockets, and it just got worse.

Turns out two things...

  1. The DAITA traffic is wild. For every request you make, you end up transmitting more and receiving more, but what looks to me like receiving more than you're sending. I get how it works now I think.
  2. This absolutely seems to be saturating my local traffic as well. Maybe not in bandwidth, but along with low system ram availability enough to cause really hard to diagnose issues. I spent an embarassing amount of time removing and re-installing python packages, I now hate pip, only to figure out that my VPN software seems to have taken a nose dive.
  3. This 95% went away with DIATA off, but I saw a couple of cases since that I think the Linux program is causing problems with local traffic when the system memory is occupied by pytorch.

Wild stuff. If it's bug, I hope they fix it soon. I think it may have gotten better with 2025.5. But I don't trust it right now.
